That pitcher who lance hit in the head is now on the DL. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5134567
Pretty sweet win today and overall this has been a GREAT homestand. IMO a day game with the roof open is an incredible experience for baseball after so many years of the dome. While we aren't the Phillies or Yankees, if the middle of the order starts to hit, the offense can at least be mediocre and with our pitching that will win it's share of games. Also have to give up to Mills, I know managers get to much credit for wins and to much blame for losses but being a rookie manager and starting 0-8 could have been a disastrous.
Nice sweep! Even if we struggle this season, we should remain positive, after all it could be worse, we could be Pirate fans. Those poor bastards. When was their last winning season?
To bust out of his slump, he switched to a new bat that he got from Myers, he has been hitting more but apparently can't hold on to it just yet. The bat is a little smaller.
Congratulations to Brett Meyers on his 1,000th career strikeout! Great series hopefully the momentum continues against the reds!
I went to the game saturday, but got there top of the 2nd, missed jose cruz bobbleheads and pitcher getting knocked in head.
Re-watching the Berkman's shot of the pitcher. If the catcher had caught that ball would Berkman have been out? I assume he would have been, and he almost did. I didn't even notice him kicking his legs until some of you mentioned it.
I know it gets talked about in little league and softball. But would it be cheesy for pitchers to wear protective headgear while pitching? Something like an old school leather football helmet or something. It wont every happen but what position in all the major sports needs it more? Not many if any.
