glad to see all of the players there. the game was boring, i left after teh ifrst quarter. the team was divided to two, the frist team was coached by tmac and shane, the other was yao and steve. tamc didn't play in the first quarter, his team was down by 8 points. they were all like playing pass the ball and shoot or dunk, there was zero team and invididual defense except for Scola who was not shy screening players trying to lay up. Referees were Bonzi, Deke and Rafer, they're all funy especially Rafer who was trying to do some funny acting when calling violations. Tmac got a technical and Steve was awared with a freethrow. When he shot the ball, the Bonzi, the referee who was standing below the ream, blocked Steve's freethrow shot. . JL3 can dunk. Clutch the bear distubingly and mercilessly kicked some kids. He's bad. Popcorn was NOT free..

Stevie was also imitating Rafer's style when bringing down the ball, you know, hhopping and dribbling.
heheh, the five rookies were asked to sing the national anthem. good ting thye're basketball players.
wow, and the entertainment begins and not even a single preseason game has been played. that is awesome.
I just got back. That was awful. It wasn't a practice at all. It was an exhibition. All show. It was like watching the globetrotters. No cheap food. Hot dogs were $4.50. Yeah - doors opened at 12:30... and they had a bunch of dumb crap til 1:40. That's when the Rockets players entered the court. Yao and T-Mac didn't play - they were the "coaches" of the two teams. Bonzi and Alston were the "refs" and didn't play. Adelman and the coaching staff weren't there at all. As I said, this was not a practice. It was show-boat dunks. No defense. Final score was 37 - 35. The only amusing part was the rookies singing national anthem (terribly). Just garbage. At least I didn't pay anything for it (and I caught a shirt from T-mac).
I don't know what you expected, I was there for about 35 min, saw the first "half" and then I left to come back to work. As far as the full priced food/drink they did not advertise it at 1-2 dollars like in the past but I can see if you were expecting it. I'm glad I went and was able to get a "first look" at my team.
yeah, wasnt as i expected, the players got really late out on the court and kinda just seemed boring, JL3 can get up tho.
Oh yeah, one more cool thing was when a large group of fans started chanting players names it was like the "role call" in Yankee Stadium. I think the Rowdies should get in their seats just before pre-game warm ups and do this for the players and chant until they wave back.
I expected a real practice game. I didn't expect clowns. If I wanted to watch clowns, I'd go to the globetrotters. They shouldn't call it "open practice". They should call it a "fan's exhibition game".
Clutch and I went. We saw the end of the actual practice on the practice court. Media spent time with the players and coaches doing interviews before going to the open practice. I asked about food and was told that they couldn't do cheaper food this year because of some new deal with their food provider they just signed. Clutch and I sat at one end of the floor right under the basket during the open practice. Got tons of pics. I went out on the floor and got shots of the rookies singing the national anthem as well. I'm going through the photos now and will post them as I get them done. Clutch will have audio from the player interviews today as well.
You honest thought they were going to conduct a practice for the general public? It's always a scrimmage. This year was more loose than most, but ANYTHING is more loose than what it was the last couple years.
I'm already home out on the Westside...it was basically unwatchable basketball and way way too much Clutch The Bear getting kicked in his soft furry bear nuts. Somewhere on the first couple of possesions I saw what looked like motion offense with a couple of hard cuts, then all went to garbage. There were two redeeming moments. 1. The crowd calling out Stevie and his acknowlegdement. All the frustration he caused when he was last here is gone. There was a lot of love for Stevie 2. The camera hit on the little Asian Power Dancer and there was a collective gasp at her hotness. (I missed Gene Peterson, I was out in the hall) (edit) Yes , with all the competition for playing time on this team I expected to see some seriousness. If I were one of the 8 or 9 players that might end up elsewhere, the D league or selling insurance I wouldn't have missed a chance to state my case. JL3 made a case for signing on with the Globetrotters, what do they pay?
It was tooooooo looooooooose. coudn't even call taht a basketball game. more like a bunch of superheroes that was given a basketball and told to run and shoot.
