he could have stepped aside and easily tossed the ball over... did he forget who was running or what? the man was nowhere near first...
****! ****! Now, even if we win tonight, it won't even feel that good, but if we lose, it's double the frustration.
Everything was set up perfectly. Hawkins made the perfect pitch. Bard can't run. I was already looking forward to the next inning when Matsui flipped the ball to 2nd.
Best thing that could happen is if we get swept or lose 4 of 5 so Uncle Drayton will wake up and realize this team cannot contend. Sell Valverde and Tejada already!!
I cannot believe how poor this team is defensively. Astros used to take pride in their defense. It is funny watching this team try to get to .500. Miggy blew an easy throw. Wake the fu_k up, Astros!
This has got to be the biggest choke of the season, thanks Miggy! I am still in disbelief that that was how the game ended.
That was actually Miggy's 2nd error of the game: From the bottom of the 6th in the play-by-play: Cristian Guzman: Foul, Ball, Ball, Foul, Guzman grounded into fielder's choice to shortstop, Willingham scored, Hernandez to third, Flores to second on shortstop Tejada's fielding error. All 3 unearned runs in that game were scored due to Tejada errors.
At the end of the season, it would be interesting to see an analysis of how many wins Tejada's bat produced versus how many games his defense cost us. It would also be interesting to compare those net results to what Everett would do based on his estimated numbers if he were still an Astro. I think the overall difference between Tejada and Everett would be surprisingly small, everything considered, despite Everett's awful bat. People tend to overestimate the impact of 1 bat on an offense and underestimate the impact of defense, esp. at a premium position like SS.
Not that it matters but plenty of O's fans will be laughing while watching/reading the news tonight/tomorrow. O's fans and Nats fans (I think there are a few) get a lot of their sports news from the same sources. They'll once again be thankful for Luke Scott, Troy Patton, etc...
Disastrous night so far. Ortiz has given up 3 hits to the first 4 men, already a wild pitch and an error, 2 runs down after 1 out.
