Psychologically, tomorrow's game means more than it would seem because we have the .500 mark to play for. There's just something about that mark, if we go into the all star break at .500 it would be much better outlook than if we went in 2 games under .500.
I hear you but what really matters is how many games back you are from the division lead/wild card. If you are 10+ games back from both, getting to .500 probably doesn't mean much. Fortunately, that's not the case right now.
Was at the game today... I couldn't believe Coop didn't pinch hit for Paulino in the 4th (i think). Bourn looked like the only guy who gave a crap out there... Ah well, just a bad day at the office; I think we'll get back to .500 tomorrow afternoon.
I'm not sure how to appropriately reply to being tagged as DEEZ NUTZ in my pics, lol But I'll get on that right away
Man, I knew this upcoming stretch was tough but not this tough... 50 of our next 59 games are against teams currently over 0.500. Yes the Cubs, Brewers, and Marlins are all hovering around 0.500 but they are still decent clubs.
Jason castro probably just won MVP of the futures game. came in the game in the top half of the inning, gunned down a runner at 3rd, then just hit a 3 run jack to put the US up 5-3 in the bottom half.
Just finished watching the game on DVR. Moehler and Arias pitched out of some tough jams. Amazing we didn't give up any runs. I think I heard that was the 3rd time in Astros/Colt .45s history that we gave up as many as 11 hits in a shutout. That sounds a lot better than all the records we allowed the Nationals to set yesterday. Kaz had a big game in the field and at the plate. It's about time he started earning his paycheck.
Just 2 games back in the loss column. Killer schedule after the break. National League Central Team W L Pct GB Diff L10 Strk St. Louis 49 42 .538 - +28 6-4 W1 Milwaukee 45 43 .511 2½ -5 3-7 L1 Chicago 43 43 .500 3½ +2 5-5 L1 Houston 44 44 .500 3½ -30 6-4 W1 Cincinnati 42 45 .483 5 -49 3-7 L2 Pittsburgh 38 50 .432 9½ -11 2-8 L4
i always assumed when people have been saying "after the break", they meant our first couple series coming out of it...then i looked at the schedule. it doesn't let up until it's over.
My thoughts... I wonder if Miggy and Bourn can come close to matching their 1st half performances. We probably need them to do so. Pence needs to get it going again. He hasn't looked right in weeks... seems to have lost a lot of his plate discipline. I think we'll have to get more than we should expect out of our 3 through 5 in the rotation if we plan to stay in the mix. Our bullpen will probably have to perform well above league average the rest of the way since we have trouble scoring runs.
