If they are gonna be playing Rodgers at 2B, why not just have Dezenzo play RF with Smith in AAA? This seems really stupid.

Framber certainly not sharp, but even not sharp Framber's pitches are usually hard to square up.

 

Because Smith may have a special bat.

They can figure that out with him in AAA and thereby both gain an extra year of control over Smith and give Dezenzo an opportunity to play every day.
