Trying to be positive since he did make nice contact in the 1st but that last play just made me regret choosing that word as a description for his night.
No range, no arm, no speed, no power. He makes good contact but that's it, id rather have Tommy in who saves runs and can make those plays
The standard plays that he made mistakes on tonight were out of the norm. The lack of range and arm have been there all along.
FSHouston Sanchez had Tommy John surgery on his elbow and missed all of 2007. He says he is back to normal, but I don't really like his arm. Didn't realize he had TJ surgery, explains a lot IMO.
Tommy is marginally better defensively, at best, and no better offensively. I have little faith in either one. I know people have been on the Onhell bandwagon but you hit it on the head above other than the part about Manzella being any kind of significant upgrade. Manzella does have a quicker release and stronger arm and a little better range.
I didn't either. Whatever the explanation, there isn't much sympathy at this level, even on a bad team. And TJ surgery doesn't explain his slow-motion running and lack of range.
Agree, I honestly didn't realize his arm was SOOOO bad until last night when he couldn't turn the double play in the 7th and obviously tonight.
I heard Bags changed Tommys swing and he's been doing good, wasn't he hitting around .400 against lefties this season anyway? What if they put Sanchez at 2nd base and Tommy at SS? I wish Tommy could play defense while Angel hits, unfortunately it doesn't work like that
Well, it looks like the Braves pitching staff put the club in a slump. Reminds me of the 90s were Glavine, Maddux and Smoltz would always send the Stros into a slump.
Lmao anyone seeing the Rangers? Their 3-7 in their last 10 and their losing today in the 9th. Choke just like they have in the past few years
I don't buy that. We're just facing better pitching. As much as Bagwell is probably having a positive impact, it's almost certainly been exaggerated due to a variety of factors, including the lesser quality pitching/teams we've faced since the AS break, randomness, etc...
Another excellent start for Bud, he didn't have the stuff he had last time but battled VERY well. Wins and Losses are always the bottom line but seeing Bud and Happ pitch as well as they have is VERY encouraging.
I was half kidding and the Braves and Mets do have good to great staffs but the PIRATES??? That is why I do think there is something to my Braves theory although I do agree that we weren't going to stay hot forever.
Brooks, we struggled vs their starters, we killed their pen. It was great that we swept but the 15 runs were VERY deceiving and you could just tell the "O" was slowing down. We hit Karstens a bit in the final game but was rolling till Lee bust the Ump wide open. Actually we killed Meek on Friday scoring 4 of those 15 runs.
rockets934, Ohlendorf has been solid all year. We scored 8 runs on 16 hits off their other 2 starters. I think we were productive against their starters and pen in that series. My general point was that we've faced some better pitching recently and that some of the offensive roll we were on after the AS break was due to lesser pitching and competition. Tonight, we're facing a AAAA pitcher and finally broke through right there with Lee's blast.
