When Sanchez has time, he's very reliable. He's fundamentally sound. The problem is on those tight or out of range plays that you expect your SS to make where you need to be quick with your feet and release and throw the ball hard.
Also, the guy appears to be able to hit. I cannot remember the last time we had a SS we could count on to bat more than .250.
Tejada? But yea, before him, there wasn't much. I still say the jury is out on Sanchez' offense but as a lot of people are pointing out, he has good bat control. I also worry about his lack of range but it's not like we have a lot of alternatives right now. It's him or Manzella for now, assuming they don't go to FA.
BB, thought you might appreciate this: Joe Mauer on July 24th: .295 on Aug 18th: .335 40 points gained on the batting average in 3 weeks this late in the season, amazing.
Mets have flashed some serious leather in this series. Good pitching and good defense, so how is this team so avg?
I noticed that he's been hot for weeks. I remember that series against KC where Minny was just pouring on the offense.
Pretty good AB by Castro. Fought off a couple of pitches, took a couple others then hit one pretty hard up the line. I've seen at least 2 pitches hit 102 on that gun.
I'm more surprised he was only hitting .295 than the fact that he was able to make up 40 points on his average in August.
