This is a carbon copy of last Sunday....go up 3 runs and get mowed down rest of the way....I guess day games are not our strong suit.

    When is lance due back?

Hunter, Ivan and Coste... which of them will get a hit? It will be hard to get a run with those...

Last year when we got Wolf he had a 4.76 ERA and 6-10 and Davis will be a free agent like Wolf so we would only pay a third of that contract. He just finished a nice 6 inning start last night giving up zero ERs and before those two starts you point out check out his stats.....

1/3 of $8.75 million is still $2.88 million, I don't know if Drayton would spend that much money on a Doug Davis. We will soon find out, as the trade deadline is fast approaching.

Well...if he was willing to eat Backe's deal I think he can be talked into something like that...Wolf's contract was for 4.75 million so we paid what about 1.6 millionish?

    Davis
    ERA Whip
    3.76 1.49

    Moehlor
    4.97(which should go above 5 today) 1.47

    Hampton

    Ortiz
    4.75 1.57

It will take a miracle now. 2 games back with a huge 4 game set coming up next. It's make or break time.

Bourn and Kaz combine for 0 for 7. That hurts.

Man I'm missing Lance right about now.

Starting pitching has been so good for a good while now but vs a team with most of the weapons on the DL this is a hard series to take...come on guys rally time!

You do realize its still July, right? I realize this week is going to be important because there are 7 games to come vs division opponents, but it is still only July.
But, this weekend may show Wade that this team needs to try and get a starting pitcher, it may push him into action....

if we're going to have mediocre pitching, we may as well have it be young guys like Bud Norris, Paulino or (god help us) Bazardo getting experience.

I kinda agree actually...We are almost done with the cubbies so if they take 3 out of 4 it would hurt with not that many head to heads left. Cards series is important but with plenty of chances left at those guys we can afford to lose it and be ok. One thing though we can not get swept in either series or we are going to fall back again which would make all this hard work for not!

You do realize we were playing an undermanned Mets team with only 1 of their stars playing, and we couldnt even take 2 of 3 from them!? I can only hope for a winning road trip.

I agree, sweeps are never a good thing, especially when playing the two teams ahead of yourself in the standings. Big week coming up, should be fun to watch, but unless the Stros go 0-7 and fall 7 games back again, it shouldn't be the end of the world.
