can anyone tell me why rookies make (and are allowed by announcers/fans/etc) "rookie mistakes" such as the one we just saw by uggla? I mean, have they not played baseball for 8+ years (likely more than that) ? Have they not been taught proper baserunning? Why does the fact that they're in the majors excuse them and allow them to periodically *forget* basics like not running to 3rd on a ball in front of you if the fielder fields the ball? None of that should be allowed. Unless it's just nerves? But come on, nerves can be the reason for certain things--like hitting struggles. But brainfarts like baserunning errors (maybe not picking up the basecoach) and stuff...that CAN't be just nerves..
well here comes to play the reasoning (or so someone said) behind batting Biggio #1.. up after the sac with a RISP. Drive him in so Willy doesn't have to!
