You know how you can tell when a player is really special. When everybody agrees they haven't had a great season, yet they are slashing .288/.403/.500.

Good to get this win, didn't look great going up against Walker. Now if we can get vintage Kuechel and a rebound from McHugh to claim an important early season series.

Off topic since it's about the Yanks/Red Sox game. I hate both but actually hate the Red Sox more than the Yankees. I hate Big Pappi too. With that being said, seeing that ump smirk as he makes bad calls, ejects Farrel the coach and then Ortiz who game back to yell some more. You can see the smirk from the side of his face. Not gonna lie, seeing an ump troll like that really pissed me off lol. I have a brother who says whatever he wants without a care in the world because he knows as his brother I won't hit him when really he's just being a coward a-hole taking advantage of someone who won't hit them while thinking they're tough s***. Believe me, I could beat the hell out of my brother just like David Ortiz could beat the hell out of that ump. That ump getting his jollies off makes me wish the ump had gotten punched right in the face. I need a chill pill yo. To be fair, that ump needs a black eye.

Being locked in at AAA, in terms of just batting average, means very little. Correa had a career worst .794 ops at the time of his promotion. McCullers didn't pitch a single game at AAA prior to his.

They will consider everything. What is his K:BB ratio, what is his BABIP, how many pitches is he seeing per AB, what type of pitches is he struggling with, etc.

We clearly know that this front office doesn't give two ****s about batting average alone... Or else all but 2-3 players in this lineup would be demoted or DFA'd tomorrow.

    Everything you said is true

    But

Those two you mention were brought up after super two I believe

I just don't see them burning a year of arb which could cost them 4-8 million for a guy who isn't completely locked in

Maybe I'll be proven wrong and he will be up next week

Doubt it but we will see I suppose

McCullers wasn't. Correa was... but there's now some concern that it may have been too early.

Good chance that super 2 goes away prior to this ever being an issue... and if it is an issue, congratulations to the Astros that Reed panned out!

Keep in mind, they're paying Valbuena $6 million dollars this year as part of his arbitration years.... they had full control not to do that... there's plenty of money on the ground if they look hard enough.

Similar to LMJ, if they need an upgrade to the lineup, and they feel Reed can provide that by replacing one of Gattis/White/Valbuena/Tucker (with the corresponding position adjustments as needed), they should be able to execute it. As it is, Gattis potentially becoming the backup catcher is going to an open a spot for somebody.

    Yea you may be right

I just don't see them costing themselves millions to get a few extra weeks of Reed, who is performing pretty well but not destroying AAA

I HOPE you are right and they would bring him up now and not worry about the money

Just don't think it will happen at this point. If they were gonna be wiimg to do that why waste the games after the free agent year was gained?

As for super 2 going away, maybe it will but that is far from certain.

I don't think a lack of spending is a part of the problem with our slow start like some do, but I don't think crane is gonna add 4+ million for a few weeks of Reed who isn't dominating AAA

I'm just saying the non-call-up now is more due to giving guys at the MLB level a chance (along with letting Reed continue to develop). They're paying pretty good money to Gattis and Valbuena to just DFA them after a month... but time is running out. If they don't pan out, they will be making changes regardless of super 2 (which is really only going to hurt with the mega-stars like Springer/Correa who will command 8 figures in arbitration pretty early in the game).

And that's also presuming they can't workout extensions that buyout those years anyways.

Super-2 is really overblown, especially when a team is trying to contend.

As the #1 1B prospect in the game I bet they see him as a Springer level player

I will just agree to disagree on Crane not caring about super 2, 4+ million extra for a few weeks doesn't seem like a Crane move

Now if they are willing to go the Singleton route maybe so, worked out great for Jon not so much the organization

    Think so.

Altuve gets all twitchy and weird in the dugout when he's not playing. Like the boy is going through withdrawal symptoms.

Oh God, please delete my message in the Astros/Rangers thread. I'm super sorry for the bump.

I hope Altuve will be alright. Don't want to lose him for an extended period of time.
