Bill Brown says a few completely inaccurate things during pretty much every telecast. No, Bill, Matsui isn't coming around from either side of the plate. He's been awful recently and pretty much all season. 2 hits hardly represent a turnaournd. Bill also gets a number of pitch counts wrong every game. He also couldn't care less, in general, if he tried. He shows zero emotion. He is starting to annoy me much like Bill Worrell. If it wasn't for Deshaies, I'd be watching on mute.

It's very frequent and it's much more than just that. To each his own but I'm tired of the guy. I know there are a bunch of Worrell fans out there but I've had enough of that guy, too.

how painful is it watching miggy come up with bourn on first and swing at the 1st 2 pitches, not even giving michael a chance to steal second. what a waste of a lead off man. miggy should be no where near the 2nd spot in the lineup.
Reasons Tejada shouldn't be batting 2nd: 1. He doesn't take pitches. 2. He hits into a ton of double plays (related to #1, he constantly swings at pticher's pitches). 3. He's slow. 4. He's a righthanded hitter. 5. I have no idea if he can bunt. Reasons he should be: 1. We have no better options. Tejada is a Suzuki-lite, without speed. Like Suzuki, he swings at tons and tons of pitches outside the zone and rarely walks. Unlike Suzuki, he's not good enough at it to have a high OBP. Basically... Because of his low OBP and lack of speed, Tejada is not a good leadoff hitter. Because of the reasons above, he isn't a good 2-hole hitter. Because he just isn't good enough of an overall hitter, he's not a 3-hole hitter. Nowhere near the power needed to be a good cleanup hitter. Not have enough power to hit 5th, either. Once again, if you have no better options, you put him somehere in the top 5 as we do but he really isn't suited for any of those spots. This all may sound crazy but if you look deeper at his numbers, he hasn't been that great. He's got about a .775 OPS and .335 wOBA which are both just slightly above average for NL SSs. Move him to 3rd and you have below average hitting and defense. How much is he worth if we try to resign him and what position do you play him at? Would it be better to either off him arb and hope he ends up elsewhere or just let him walk? The reasoning for this would be that our offense will likely be below average again next season, with or without Tejada. There is a quicker path to contention if we improve our starting pitching while waiting for some internal talent. I'd rather see Drayton spend dollars on pitching than overpay for past-their-prime position players. I understand that Miggy's enthusiasm and style of platy make him easy to like but how much is he really worth from a winning standpoint?
Bourn's next step as a hitter is to decrease his number of Ks, if he does that, his BA and OBP should go up at least 10-15 points b/c he'll get a some cheap infield hits just by putting more balls in play. I love watching him now, and can't wait to see how high his peak is in the future.
might as well give maysonet a shot at it, seeing as though he'll be fighting for the job next year and the year after.
Nice job avoiding trouble there from Fulchino. He's been a very pleasant surprise in the bullpen this season.
