Remember, no PBP in these threads and keep the chatter on topic (if it is about something other than this series, talk about it in another thread).

Please no loss tonight...I'm tired of going to games that they lose!

Maybe Brad can work his magic tonight too. I see a shot off Webb's elbow in the 4th!

Please have Wandy to throw at Webb in the 2nd inning.. not to his head though.. somewhere on the elbow would be fine

I like our chances to take 2 out of 3 from the D'Backs. Ideally, the ridiculously good Wandy (sometimes) will show up tonight and then Oswalt should be able to go toe to toe with the 85 year old Johnson.

I don't know if Backe is capable of performing well in back to back outings, so I'll say WLW.

    I'd take 2of3 from the Diamondbacks...LWW...
However, if we win tonight, we sweep...

WWW, Sweep. Tonight is the night it comes unglued for Webb. Granted it'll only be one night but we'll tag him early and often...clearing the way for a potential Sweep.

Somewhat meaningless tidbit, but I found this interesting in McTaggart's blog today... hadn't heard this before:

    http://blogs.chron.com/gamedayastros/2008/08/welcome_back_chris_burke.html

At-bats are at-bats, Chris, no matter what role you're in. Honestly, his 2008 is so terrible that it makes Michael Bourn look like an All-Star by comparison. (Yes, his sample size is very small -- but his 2007 wasn't much better.) It makes me wonder if he got so consumed with being a starting 2B that it impacted his focus on everything else. If so, it's a shame -- very talented guy.

Wandy has decided he fancies the night off by the looks of it

How in the hell does a major league pitcher walk 4 guys in an inning? 23 balls to 17 strikes for Wandy in the 1st.

 Weren't Purpura and Garner both long gone when Burke got traded? Where did he find them to chew them out? That doesn't make any sense.

Well, at first I assumed that meant Burke called them. But McTaggart's blog is, uh, out there. Two people have since asked McTaggart the same question you have -- his response?

Except he hasn't changed his story at all, which says...

So, yeah, I have no idea what to think.

Makes sense - I guess it could have happened right towards the end of the season, but even that's weird because both were let go during the season, and it seems like a dumb thing to do when they are both still his boss. A phone call is what I was thinking too, but then there's no reason a Chronicle writer would ever know about it - so I assumed it must have been done somewhere in the clubhouse where it could have been reported.

    Who knows.

I like it, when you lose, lose big.

We will be able to regroup better tomorrow.

    I don't know, lol. I'd much rather lose a 2-1 game than a 80-2 game.
