Once Lee was approaching third, he would have been a dead duck at home. The little bit you could see on the replay (I would have liked to have seen him the whole way), he started running faster once he was a few steps past second. That implies he was taking it easy between first and second.

Massolino has made some questionable decisions, but that one wasn't his fault (as far as I could tell)

The Astros' lack of scouting prowess in Houston again cost them Friday night, when Arizona Diamondbacks rookie center fielder Chris Young drilled two solo home runs in his first major league appearance in his hometown.

Young, 23, helped 2006 Cy Young Award winner Brandon Webb beat the Astros, 3-1, to open a three-game series at Minute Maid Park. Webb held the Astros to one run on six hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts. Young's home runs proved the difference after Hunter Pence drove in Carlos Lee for a run in the ninth.

Even though Young played at baseball power Bellaire High and was an all-state selection while leading the state in stolen bases, he fell all the way to the 16th round to the Chicago White Sox without earning a pick from the Astros in the 2001 draft.

Now he's among the National League rookie leaders in several offensive categories, following the steps of Carl Crawford, Josh Barfield, Michael Bourn and James Loney as young Houstonians who are starring in the majors or on the cusp of stardom.

Young, who grew up watching the Astros at the Astrodome, was 3-for-4 with a double and two home runs. Among rookies in the league, he entered the night first in doubles and second in home runs.

to state the obvious, webb flat out pitched a gem today. it's frustrating that we had our chances and couldn't make anything out of them :|.

wandy hasn't been pitching that bad as of late, but then again, it's always tough to say which one will show up.

the home run king or the pitcher that manages to keep the ball in the park for 6-7 innings.

    classic chronicle.

every team in the league passed on this guy...15 times at least!!!! but it's the astros' fault because he played h.s. ball here.

yeah, when scouts used to travel on trains instead of planes and before al gore invented the internets, that would have been an awesome article!

"Now he's among the National League rookie leaders in several offensive categories, following the steps of Carl Crawford, Josh Barfield, Michael Bourn and James Loney as young Houstonians who are starring in the majors or on the cusp of stardom. "

Josh Barfield is hitting .202 with a .237 OBP and a .257 SLG. Bourn has 18 at bats this year for a .278 average with 5 singles and a triple. Loney is not even in the majors this year. Even after Young's big night, he is hitting .250 with a .292 OBP.

With the exception of Crawford, it is ridiculous to say that any of these guys are currently on "the cusp of stardom".

Astros should try to trade Chris Burke. I have really never been a big fan of his because doesn't anything really well and strikesout too much for a non-power hitter. Also the Astros have some nice prospects at 2nd in the minors like Brooks Conrad, Johnny Ash, and Greg Buchanan.

Amazing. That was a ball at Scott's ankles for ball four... would've scored a run... called a strike. That's twice in three games umps have single handedly taken a run off the board.

And now a strike three well off the plate to ring him up. Unbelievable. When it comes to the strike zone, this team is snakebit.

Sigh. 10 runs tonight. So I guess it's safe to say we're gonna score 1 run tomorrow. Never fails.
