He should give half his salary to Carlos Delgado... took ALL the pressure off him. The Mets can slug the ball... but they still would need another power arm to match up with the AL teams. A half-effective Pedro, a spotty Glavine, and an average Trachsel are NOT going to be enough in any 7 game series.
I agree they are really the only team though that has played well in the NL...what a weak league this year....
Today has been VINTAGE Clemens (the Astros version)... its amazing that he's actually getting better with each start out there (as he's building up those legs and arm strength). Honestly, this team could easily get back in the race with just Oswalt and Clemens being lights out down the stretch (as they did in 04), provided that they don't flat-out lose every single game not started by them... and with Pettite, he's still effective enough to win half the games he's slated to start. But, we still got a long way to go... I wonder if Roger will feel up to pitching the 8th (pitch count is low... but he could still be gassed, as Roy was yesterday even though he only threw 98 pitches).
Beltran had another HR... but Glavine fell apart (only went 4 innings, giving up 6ER). Mets winning another slugfest 9-6... the Braves are about to be toast for the first time since 1991 (truly a HISTORIC feat).
Technically, we have to win a few more games and get to at least .500 before we're in the "race". The Brewers know they're out of it (otherwise they wouldn't have traded Lee)... now, we have to get INTO it. Adam drove in a run from 3rd... did anybody else just see that?
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite games of the season. Clemen's dominating, getting run support, playing small ball, the whole lineup chippin' in...just great fundamental baseball today (outside the Lamb error in the 1st).
well if we win today and the Reds lose then we would be 5 games back of the wildcard..Doesn't that mean we are in it ?
Yeah its like someone hit Garner over the head and he started actually coaching again...I like it !!!!
