Because the man can not hit his way out of a wet paper bag......heck his triple could have been caught if the LF took the proper angle.

Anyone else notice how much crisper the throw from Burke is on a DP compared to Biggio ?

    Double play, never mind.

Maybe if I say that the Astros will not score in the 11th, they will

I agree with you ... that's why I think he should have tried to get a walk ... lord knows its not very likely he would get a hit

Is there anyone who doesn't know that Bidge has a noodle arm? The biggest argument for starting Burke over Bidge is not defense but Bidge's brutal slump of late. It's depressing; the man along with Bags is one of my two favorite baseball players--ever. It's flat depressing to see his avg dipping into the .260s.

    Crap! Willy-T to the track.

The Cubs have cocky outfielders, & I hate them. I want to start the plunking contest again. Who cares about the game? Plunk them bastards! lol

Boy, Jacque Jones loves to hit at MMP. Damn he's hit 2 balls 430+.

Burke, Ensberg, Berkman, Scott, Huff due up. Enough is enough, end this game here, please.

Who is the guy that argued with me back in May about keeping Lane over Willy?

Willy rules, & if he ever got his rhythm stealing bases, he'd be GREAT! That play in CF was as good, if not BETTER than anything Everett has ever done defensively, & people adore him for whatever reason.

Ensberg needs to CLOSE that stance! Jesus, it's WIDE open again, like it was when he sucked two years ago.

Does ensberg always move this much at the plate? He has a lot of moving parts to his swing, which could lead to mechanical inconcinsenty(sp?). I could see why he would be prone to slumps if this is the case.

That would be me... but things were different in May. If Lane were able to have anywhere close to the season he had last year, he'd be much more valuable than Willy. He's obviously been awful this season, but I don't think that was easy to predict. In May it appeared to be nothing more than Lane's traditional May slump and there wasn't evidence to think it was prolonged.

As for why Everett gets more love than Willy, it's because Everett plays a position (SS) that demands quality defense even more than CF, and it's a position that demands less offensively. If you have a light-hitting SS, it's not the end of the world... most teams do. If you have a light-hitting CF, that's a problem, unless you can balance it out in other areas (C, SS). We can't right now. Of course, Willy's hitting very well now so it's not an issue right now, but it probably will be in the future.
