As long as he keeps up his year, I don't know why he wouldn't bring in a decent return. With the teams that are in big need of relief, and everyone can use a good reliever, we may be in the right market to trade him. Also, FWIW, I had a dream that Bud Norris was traded to the Yankees... . He also invested in full sleeve tats, so maybe I was just way off.
Hard to say. I didn't like the return for Lopez or Myers, who I think are better than Veras. At the same time, we got good return in the package deal involving Lyon/Carpenter last year.
You didn't like the return for Lopez? Before the TJ surgery for Alex White, I thought we were clear winners. Alex White is still young, and it's much too early to give up on his MLB career. We were trading a bullpen guy for a possible rotation guy, and worst case we just traded a bullpen guy for a bullpen guy. The Myers trade was kind of a letdown, although Chris Devenski was a really intriguing arm that continues to struggle while showing flashes of brilliance. Heidenreich is also really projectable, even if he's struggling. It's unfortunate that those guys aren't working out, but I was OK with the trade at the time. Myers' value wasn't what it used to be since he was coming out of the bullpen.
I'm not big on Alex White. The only reason I didn't hate it was the concerns over Lopez's elbow. Since we still had control of him for a while, I didn't think we needed move him so soon.
Agreed on all accounts. Prospects that end up moving from system to system quickly (he was CLE-COL-HOU in less than 2 years, right?) become concerning to me, and that could just be my own prerogative that has no reason. Still, if we were going to move Lopez, this seemed like the time to do so considering his high usage and chance to become injured due to usage on a team that didn't need him as much as others.
