Was just realizing that without Carpenters 14-4 record, the Cards are below .500 Whats gone wrong up there?
The Cardinals remind me of our own Astros before we shipped of Berkman/Oswalt and some of the other veterans. They have a roster that is starting to get past its prime, they paid far to much for Matt Holliday, and now they have to save their finances just to hold onto Pujols. I think they will be mediocre in years to come, nothing great. The Holliday deal reminds me of the Carlos Lee deal.
Pujols is great and Rasmus looks the part but Holliday is overrated and will turn into their Carlos Lee as soon as next season. The rest of the lineup is HORRIBLE, Pedro Feliz was hitting 5th last night which is all you need to know. Its amazing they actually put up decent offense numbers but when they cool off its very bad.
Cards in the last 14 innings vs Happ/Wandy have 0 Runs and 4 Hits... By the way the Reds are winning, a loss tonight could put the Cards 7 GAMES BACK.
Well at least he's being useful somehow. Not even Castro is managing to hit by pitches unfortunately.
Does anybody know the 'Stros home record? The Cards look horrible, when they swept the Reds I thought they were gonna run away with it. They really messed up trading away Ludwick.
Awesome...just awesome. Keep it up Stros! Happy to see the Reds winning too. Like the other posters are saying, the cards are reminding me of what the Astros became until we traded away what we could of the big contracts (obviously minus Lee).
So I looked up Jason Castro in the dictionary a little while ago and found this interesting snippet next to his name... The Mendoza Line is an informal term used in baseball for the threshold of incompetent hitting. Even though Mario Mendoza's lifetime batting average is .215, the Mendoza Line is said to occur at .200, and when a position player's batting average falls below that level, the player is said to be below the Mendoza Line. It is often thought of as the offensive threshold below which a player's presence in Major League Baseball cannot be justified despite his defensive abilities.
