not sure, came back from getting that beer just in time for the first pitch...didn't notice any double switch though. I assume he'll pick up a bat too..
Looks like Gar will be going with Wheeler vs. Pujols, Rolen, and Edmonds... not a bad choice, but I just remember how Qualls carved up the Cards (esp. Pujols) in the playoffs. But, I guess the only guy you could have switched out would have been Burke for Wilson... and Wilson is still a better defender (which is more important in a close game).
Prediction: Wainwright vs. Buchholz will be a "marquee" pitching matchup in 2 years time. They look very similar w/ their "stuff"
Wainwright looks really solid, you're right. Alright lidge, NO room to maneuver this time! gotta bring it! (is this 3 games in a row? I can't remember now..)
Ugh... now when you want him to throw balls in the dirt, he can't. Maybe Lidge is just a funky mentally weird guy... can either be lights out, or lights on... or can either throw everything in the zone, or nothign in the zone.
Not yet. I was thinking similiarly until i saw Miles come up to the plate.....and i remembered how bad Lidge made him look on two swings last night.
Lights out Lidge! (hit was a blooper... and walking Spezio wasn't all that bad considering he was the only guy with any sort of pop coming up in the batting order).
lidge looked decent today. I really believe he's coming out of it. Also...we're gonna REALLY miss Ausmus whenever he finally retires. He makes blocking some of those pitches so easily. I'd anticipate we could lose 1 run every couple of weeks at least if we end up with an "average" catcher.
You really don't know how good we have it in Houston... teams like these AREN'T the norm... especially not in the NL.
I think they were booing the ball call (even though it was right) considering the terrible strike 3 call on Ensberg and other questionable ball/strike calls throughout the game.
