Yup, 4 of those runs are on Roy. Ruiz had a throwing error. Still, seems like he's struggling quite a bit. 2 hit batters as well.
Who thinks Jose Bautista is taking some kind of PED? Pretty insane jump in power for a 30-year-old. He's slugging 165 points better than his career high. Hit his 31st HR tonight.
I will admit I was a fan of the Lee signing although shortsided on my part but at this point I think I might light a candle so we have a prayer of dumping him this winter.
I don't think a baseball person in the world outside of a select few Astros and Carlos Lee fans thought it was a good signing. I'm not saying Lee is terrible (he's very good, never been great) but that contract was petty horrible, market dictated or not. Nobody forced us to sign off on it.
If he can become an above .500 slugger over time, I'd be ecstatic. I think that's what it'll take at a minium for him to be a starter this league. His defense and OBP skills won't get him there.
After the trade yesterday: Philly Phans Phapping After Roy's poor start and seeing Happ pitching well: Philly Phans Phreaking
I keep watching and waiting for the league to completely figure him out because of the low walks and he sure likes to swing but they haven't yet. Next year will be interesting though.
I am not that high on CJ despite what he did in ST and so far in this stint but I'd love to be proven wrong. It's entirely going to come down to his SLG ability, imo. I think the very low BB rate and high SO rate will continue throughout his career. He has a smooth but very slow, long swing. There are good and bad things about it. Defensively, he has a nice arm and good athleticism but I don't see him being better than average-at-best, which would be fine if he's hitting 25-30 HRs a season and putting up a triple slash along the lines of .270/.310/.500.
Carlos Lee with his 3rd fail of the game. Kneels down to collect a ground ball and it bounces off of him. No harm done but it looked sloppy and lazy.
