Only surpassed by their even more epic collapse against another one of our rivals in the previous series. They had two separate 5 run leads against the Brewers in one game and blew both of them, the last one off a first pitch, line drive Fielder GS. So, in total, the Indians' bullpen handed away about 4 wins over 6 games to the Brewers and Cubs en route to getting swept twice, screwing themselves and the Astros. An average performance by their bullpen and the Indians could have fairly easily won 4 out of those 6 games. They weren't just your ordinary choke jobs either. The Indians' bullpen is truly a disaster. Worst in the majors.
I'd send them Geary and minor league prospects for DeRosa. Bourn Kaz Berkman Lee Pence DeRosa Tejada Pudge Sick!
Who would've believed that we'd have 4 regulars hitting over .300 this far into the season and be 13th in the NL in runs scored?
I am just holding onto hope that we can get back to .500 before the all star break. Every time I think we might get there, we go on a slide. Lets hope they can make the push and get there over the next couple weeks.
It's a Houston thing. Weren't the Texans 3rd in offense but way down in scoring? The Astros aren't taking advantage of their red zone opportunities.
What about the fact that they're 13th in runs scored in the NL while being 7th in OBP and 5th in SLG? They also have struck out the 2nd fewest times in the league and have the 5th most SB. The offense has clearly been snakebit and very unlucky so far this season. The lineup is pretty potent and should produce runs on a more consistent and frequent basis down the stretch, looking at all the secondary numbers.
That and the number of outs they have ran into. We are 10th in steals for all of MLB, but we are First in caught stealing by 3. 63% just isn't acceptable. I wish I knew of a stat that measures the rest of base running.
Amen to that. I want to see Bourn with the green light, and on occasion Matsui and Pence. The rest of the team is a combined 8 for 21 on SB attempts and should be grounded to the bases with glue or some other adhesive.
I'm liking Keppinger in the 2-hole. In fact, I'm just liking his signing overall... a good quality hitter (doesn't strikeout) who can also do the little things necessary (move runners over, sacrafice, etc.) that you need to generate scoring opportunities.
