what youngens? youngens are starting in CF and comprise about 60% of our starting pitching staff.

atleast pence is here... how about patton, and maybe even conrad?

though his .243 avg isn't all that impressive, the team of burke and biggio is working real well.

to take woody's spot in the rotation? jennings will be back soon enough. you're not knocking oswalt out of the rotation. wandy has had some strong starts. albers looks fine. sampson looks fine. all youngens.

biggio has been fine at 2B. burke will get time there eventually. he is a youngen.

i just don't know what you'd do to tweak this team with minor leaguers that would prove helpful at this point. i think we've already done that.

what's the time table for jennings btw? didn't think the injury was this serious when he got it this season.

Its inflammation... and if they're not going to repair the injury surgically, they want to make sure to give it enough time to not only completely clear up, but also ensure that the irritation will not flare up again this year.

He's making a simluated start today, and then again on Saturday. After that, if all goes well, he'll go on a rehab assignment for 1-2 starts. If he still feels good, he'll make a start soon after that. Probably ~ 2 weeks if all goes well.

However, the starting pitching has actually been okay... its the hitting that needs to not only come alive, but simply be consistent.

you're probably right, it's just frustrating watching this over and over again. how many years in a row have we started 5-10 games under .500 for the first couple of months before finally turning it on and making a run? atleast 3, maybe longer right?

end of may record by year

    2006: 27-27
    2005: 19-32
    2004: 27-23
    2003: 29-27
    2002: 24-29
    2001: 26-25
    2000: 19-33
    1999: 29-20

so over the past 8 seasons we had a 200-216 W/L record, or .480

i guess it's just perception

no disagreement there.. hell, you could argue that we didn't even need jennings the past 4-5 series (granted a pitcher like jennings always helps your cause).

however, the offense, or lack thereof, is absolutely incredible.
