He threw 48 pitches in a week. For comparison, Salomon Torres of the Brewers in the same week pitched in 4 games, 3 2/3 innings and threw 58 pitches. He threw in every save situation. I dunno...it's not like Valverde had been getting many opportunities this month...and when the team is finally in a position to win a game and needs their closer, he's on the bench?
Assuming these numbers are true, there is no reason to hold Valverde out (unless he is injured). If 48 pitches in a week is too many, then maybe we need a different closer. I suspect that isn't the problem. It is just a dumbass move by Coop.
If Valverde isn't closing this game and there is nothing wrong with him, then Wade needs to have a LONG meeting with Coop.
Looks like Valverde to me. As for the game, didn't know I missed the throw back uni's yesterday. Stupid game wasn't on tv. Also, who was it? (AnotherBrother?) That said Drayton was racist or something for not having a mixed race team? This team is like a giant melting pot. oh yeah, and can that Abercrombie dude take a pitch? He has struck out 3 times swinging all 9 times. This is the first time the Rays have lost a series since april. Great inning by Valverde.
we would have had a sweep too if Brocail didn't cost us the game. but what do you know, we've had great starting pitching for all 3 games, and guess what, that's why were were in all of them with a chance to win.
Do you think the exact same result would have occurred Sunday if the Astros would have won Saturday? Perhaps they would have won, but you cannot change the past without impacting future events.
I have 3 goals in life: 1. Convincing sportscasters, sports writers and fans that changing the past will usually change the future. 2. It is "a lot" NOT "alot". 3. Sliding is for two reasons - to avoid a tag or to slow down/stop. Therefore it is almost never a good idea to slide into first. If it made you get to a point faster, than you would see 100 meter runners sliding across the finish line.
Yeah, but considering the glory and rewards, I think they'd risk it if it meant victory or a world record.
