Bad throw by pitcher to SS for a force at second. Throw went over SS head to second baseman. Stassi apparently thought ball was caught by SS who tagged him with an empty glove. Stassi wandered off the base towards the dugout and Kinsler (who did have the ball) tagged him. Umpire never made the safe call (unless he verbally did it).

Was worried about that... on a hot night, against a tough lineup, approaching 110 pitches, I'd go ahead and get him now.

He put up a good fight, that's for sure.

Well, he managed to salvage a bare minimum quality start. How about that.

Maybe Carter isn't treating his bats the right way...

I don't disagree...I was thinking at the time he needed to be pulled too....

but also, in the back of my mind every time, is the inherent fear of calling on one of the worst bullpens in recent history to come in and close out the situation. It's almost a damned if you do/damned if you don't scenario.

Not disagreeing, but I think the bullpen has improved via addition by subtraction recently. Chapman and Lo have been decent (a combined ERA of 0 ain't too shabby) since coming up. Porter was in a no win situation there with Beltre at the dish in my opinion. I have questioned many of his moves... but it gets sticky once the bullpen is involved.

In the next few years, he'll need to make big pitches to good batters when he's tired. It's all classroom education at this point.

Not sure how anyone outside of the clubhouse could judge a coach or manager who has to deal with this traveling horse**** show on a daily basis
