They are probably the children of the guys that said Nolan Ryan was washed up and that Jim clancy would make us forget all about Nolan.

I didn't go anwyhere. I'm working on the West Coast and couldn't get out of the office until 10pm CST.

I've been hitting this forum almost every game. I'm still not sure why, though. I guess it gives me somewhere to mouth off during the action.

Looks like this game was a throwback to a few years ago. All pitching, not much offense.

I found this stat from chron.com somewhat shocking:

    STAT OF THE GAME
Jeff Bagwell's rookie year, 1991, was the last time the Astros scored two or fewer runs six straight games.

    http://www.chron.com/sports/astros/

I truly wouldn't have thought it would be anywhere near that long, especially considering the offensive ineptitude of recent teams.

It's good to see Sampson in the Bullpen. Talk about an upgrade over Bumkowski.

Another win and shutout tonight from Roy O and things all of a sudden look a hell of a lot brighter

Reported missing: Major League pitcher by the name of Roy O. Last seen some time last year. If found, please return to Houston Astros, care of Cecil Cooper.

    Thanks

I'm trying to figure out why in the world Roy would pitch to Chavez in the 8 hole with 1st base open when a .091 pitcher is on deck.

Either Roy or Coop with a brain fart there.

We should pinch hit for Ausmus in the ninth. I'll be pissed off if I see him come out to bat, he's worse than useless

LMAO the Pirates announcers are checking their statsheets to see if there is an error when Villareal's stats came up. They refused to believe he's given up 11 homers in 25 innings. They're actually laughing at him. We've become an embarassment ffs

Good work Oscar. Make sure you give up the run by throwing a wild pitch to move him to third

To be fair, the offense is not bad...this is the same lineup that was putting up 6-7 runs a game and making come-from-behind victories the norm just a few weeks ago. They've hit a cold spell, which isn't at all surprising. What is surprising is they've been pretty inept during this whole stretch (even the win).

Obviously this past week is but one window into this season, and there are going to be ups and downs...but as the Cubs continue to distance themselves, I'd say it's going to be more and more difficult to catch up and take the division; and as the Astros continue to have just as many downs as ups, it's looking more and more likely they'll end up somewhere near .500.

It was obvious before the season started just as much as it is now...they need better starting pitching to support the offense. And it starts with Oswalt; he's supposed to be the ace of this staff. If he had been having the type of season we all expected he could be 8-2 now instead of 4-6. And the team could be sitting at 35-25, fighting St. Louis for second in the division just 3.5 back of Chicago. That's pretty alarming.
