I assume his glove is average or better at 3B. They could also DH Yuli more often, with White and Marwin at the corners, good opportunity to get him a little rest here and there. Since he'll be our 1B when the games start to really matter, I'd like to see him get as many game reps as he can.
Tyler White better come to the ballpark with a new approach and a new attitude mister...or we're cracking skulls!
Maybe I just don't understand WAR, although I see that different sites have different numbers. On ESPN before yesterday's game Altuve led the league in WAR at 5.3 with Judge right behind at 5.2. We won last night, the Yanks lost, yet Judge now is at 5.4? How can a player's WAR rating go up if the team loses? Or am I just totally missing the concept?
It has nothing to do with team performance, basically it's an attempt to distill a player's value to his team into a number. There are several variations (different formulas, some are offense only, defense only or combined). http://www.fangraphs.com/library/misc/war/ He's never been good, but they've been playing him all over the IF at Fresno, so maybe something's changed.
So what? They have 244 runs at home in 5 more games compared to 330 on the road.... I actually go to home games sometimes and would like to see more runs when I do. It's fun to watch on TV but even more fun when you're at the game.
Where'd ya hear that? eta: TBS announcer guy just said the Balmer starting pitchers have the worst ERA in their 63 year history.
I suspect that's purely speculation. No way they'd put Lance out there with the lead they have if he still has lingering injuries (see Keuchel, Correa)
Fiers and Peacock are ahead of McCullers in pecking order. No way they should pencil in McCullers as a number 2 in the rotation right now.
