So I guess the umps being trash doesn't mess with the integrity of the game. One issue at a time commissioner.
But who has thought that this year, I should have said? I don't think "safe, nice little players" become the #1 prospect in baseball within a year of being drafted.
Don't know who made the call to steal, but they just got too greedy there. 2 outs and a man on 3rd. Why
Springer can't seem to steal bases anymore. With two outs and a man on third, I wish he hadn't attempted that steal.
When drafted, and in his first stint last year, thoughts were he had a lower ceiling than most high picks...but had the higher floor.
Nobody is stealing bases with much regularity as of late. I wish they'd stick with the analytical approach that suggests steals aren't worth the risk.
Their "Stro Poll" question involved changes to extra inning rules. Such as: - stop after 12 innings and call it a tie - Have a HR derby - Put a man on second and a 2-1 count on the batter Ashby seemed to be advocating the HR derby or placing a player on base with a particular count on the batter. He preferred a 3-2 count. I think it devolved from ways to speed up the game. The best way to speed up the game is to cut down the commercial breaks.
He ascended to that level in a little over 2 months... Whereas the last year and a half, scouts held with the previous evaluation. After his rough start, there were a smattering of rumblings wondering which guy he really was.
That's exactly what it is, and it's goddamned asinine. If they want to speed *this* game up, they should talk to all the pitchers.
