Just looking at both team's schedules... there isn't a mutual off day with the Mets at home. The Astros bullpen is better than theirs given Hader hasn't been used yet. Matchup as stands still favors Houston to win, but anything can indeed happen. Theres just no obvious makeup day as of now... and that usually leads to some major disruption later in the season to try and work it in (like flying from tampa to NYC to play half an inning, and then back to Houston or some stupid **** like that).
they could... i just see all those options as more disruptive than the baseline here which is just wait it out (even if it means having to get body cavity canadian customs searches at 1am).
How does it favor Houston right now? Sure, Hader hasn’t pitched, but they already got through the top of the 9th. Even if he gets through the 9th we are down to straight trash options while they still have most of their bullpen available.
Because they have a trash bullpen. Houser was their "best" pitcher available. That may not be the case later in the year if they have to play them. (not sure how those rules work in a suspended game... I know the players used can't be brought back, but suspended guys like Diaz may be eligible for that game).
Its actually 3-1. Gamecast didn't update when the Mariners won the challenge on the play at the plate. Edit: now 3-2... Twins defense imploding
Umps screw up hurt us. I'm not sure Hader will even pitch when the game resumes. I hate the way extra innings work now, so I have to feel gross and hope that it goes to extra innings.
Going extras is the only way astros could win. It's bottom of the 9th. If it doesn't go extras that means mets walk it off.
