Figueroa's been pretty good. What's the deal with him, is he even semi-legit or just a nice few starts lately?
Oswalt with another stellar outing. Lidge undoes it in the 9th, hitting a batter then balking... yes, balking... home the tying run. Game goes to extras. Oswalt stopped the bleeding and delivered. They can still win it but man, it's been a tough week for Philly nation.
Quintero has hit LHP better than RHP across his career though. Though he can't hit either in reality. Did not know Manzella had such dramatic splits. I wonder if he can hit lefties well, or if it is purely sample size.
He's semi-legit. He isn't going to post a sub-3 ERA over the long haul. He's more or less a guy that has never been given a legitimate chance. What he has been in his career is a better version of Brian Moehler. He's pitched better as a reliever than as a starter across his career, but he is fine as a 5th starter. He's been very effective as a reliever posting a 3.42 ERA across 137 innings with a 1.24WHIP.
Cool, thanks for the info. I'd thought he was our reliever at one point and then one day I was surprised to see him in the rotation... even if we were in a experimentation year. Young enough to still polish his pitches a bit and hopefully anchor that back of the rotation down.
Congratulations, Brett Myers! New club record: 27 consecutive starts from the beginning of a season with 6 or more IP And he lowers his ERA to 2.97 after completing 7 shutout innings, replacing Santana as 1 of 9 qualified NL pitchers with ERAs below 3.00.
Manzella with his first career 3-hit game. He made a terrific adjustment mid-swing to get the last hit. His only out came on a pitch that he didn't swing at that was called strike 3. It was clearly off the plate.
Not a chance. He's been incredible. (I know you were kidding) Were you watching the game on TV or just online? Not trying to be a smartass. Asking seriously. He induced a perfect groundout to Castillo but Castillo beat it out for an infield single. After that, he made a phenomenal play to get Beltran on a ball hit weakly up the line. He picked the ball up and tagged Beltran all in one motion. Very difficult play. After that, he gave up 2 ho hum singles that squeaked through the infield. Then, he blew away Francoeur on 3 straight pitches. Then, they brought in Byrdak to face the lefty and Bourgeois made an awesome diving play to end the inning. Lopez was much better than his line looked.
Ahh I see I see. Yeah, I won't lie I was box score watching lol. No game up here right now. That being said, I'm afraid we have no choice but to deport Lopez.
Haha... no shame in that at all. I didn't mean it to sound bad. I figured you weren't watching based on the comment. I also added to the last post that he whiffed Francoeur on 3 straight pitches.
No worries . What's up with Lyon being in the 9th all the time now? What happened to Lindstrom (besides severe choking syndrome)?
Wow... again. Lee and Myers are easily co-MVPs of this game. Lee just made his second sparkling defensive play. He used to play the position years ago and it shows. I guess it's like riding a bike.
