I would love to take credit for such a creative nickname lol but honestly I heard Matt J. call him that on 610 but I do it out of affection he was making fun of him using Fred Savage's character in Austin Powers 3...
That's funny, I actually thought about that movie the first time I saw you use it. It's a horrible nick but now I get where it came from.
HUH...another team I can complain about not making deadline deals to help the squad make a playoff run?!?!? WAIT...they traded for Nick Johnson lololol Seriously, we are going to barely draw 2.5 million so it would never make it...all the cities with two teams draw well over 3 million ona regular basis and most 4 million(I THINK)
Yep can't and won't disagree on that point...little league games at Williamsport probably draw more then some weekday games at Landshark...truly sad cause they have an exciting young team with good young pitching!
Wasn't their new stadium approved? Isn't that why there's a rendering on their LF wall and "2012" by it? I honestly believe that 80% of their fan apathy has to do with that ballpark, its location, and the dreary weather (rain + heat) most of the time. Once they move to the old Orange bowl area, there's more to do around there, the stadium will have a roof, and the team will likely still be exciting to watch. I can't imagine a team with a new stadium like that failing in that hot-bed of a baseball market. Tons of baseball fans there... you just gotta make it worth it for them to go to a game (and going to that ballpark is NOT worth it, no matter how good the team).
indeed. I also think attendance is kind of superficial when MLB makes a killing off TV also, profit sharing allows teams like the Rays, Nationals, and Pirates to be profitable. again, I know it will never happen....but it's fun to discuss and dream.
Arias seems to lose grip on a pitch every other outing. I've noticed this issue since late last season when he first pitched for us. It was raining during that game so I thought that was the cause but apparently not. He must have a really loose grip.
