Man the Stros are getting screwed on calls this series. That last blown call by the ump cost us AT LEAST 1 run.
Big hit by Burke - its games like these make me wonder where this team has been all year- very frustrating to see them play well when they are in all reality out of the race.
Well, the beauty of a 162 game season is that even in a season of disappointment there are still a lot of good baseball and good memories. You can't say that about every sport.
Even bad teams win more than 40% of their games. There's only one team in baseball winning less than 40% (tampa bay) and one team winning more than 60% (boston). In 8 of out 10 games, the worst and best teams in baseball will look virtually identical. The good teams will win the other two, the bad teams will lose the other two.
I get what you're saying Major, I guess I should have stated my malcontent a little better. I was just trying to imply that its tough for me to see the Astros play well certain stretches of the season and then not so well in others. But most teams go through this as well (Yankees for instance). Especially in such a mediocre division that was really anyone's for the taking, the Astros had every opportunity to get back in the race but I just think it's a little too late now.
Lidge looks like he's overthrowing and flying open again. If he doesn't calm the heck down, this won't end well.
I made my post before he recorded an out. Glad for the win, but he was leaving his pitches up and he was falling toward the first base side at the end of his delivery. And his shoulder was flying open during his delivery--all signs of overthrowing. You can "close out" a slumping team with crap like that, but you'll get exposed if you keep it up. From everything I've heard (I rarely get to watch), he's looked a lot better most of the summer with regard to mechanics, so hopefully this will be the exception and not the rule. I saw *one* great pitch--the one that got the strikeout (but I didn't see the pitch that got him the popup).
But good for us. I don't think the Dodgers were quite into the game anymore. LOL and did you see Berkman jumping up & down trying to attract Ausmus' attention to throw to 1st? Funny funny.
True this...anything is possible..i really see cards and astros taking over the cubs and brewers spots...cars and astros battleing for first heading towards final series of the season
