Getting dangerous... these guys can put up runs by the bushel.

Let's get a nice DP ball here and go back on the offense.

1 hit away from this being a tight game again. I'll be happy if we get out of the inning at 7-4.

Not that Lyles has had a great inning but he has been really unlucky ... 2 broken bat hits and a little looper... also his fastball velocity is at 92-3 showing me that he has an extra gear that he can use if he has to.

Wow, martinez is on a roll. Could it be that the astros have hit pay dirt, meaning a bunch of guys that are going to be clutch players. This is amazing.

This is where you worry about Lyles long-term. Gonna have to miss more bats or learn to pitch better to contact. Numbers in the minors pointed to him getting hit a lot, at least for now.

Didn't notice the velocity... good sign potentially.

As a hitter, I'd love to play at the Chase but pitchers must hate it...ball just FLIES.

Yep, but we got some as well yesterday and today, on offense and defense.

Lyles gave up some hard hits tonight that turned into outs. Got some help from the D, too. Probably close to evening out.

Listened to the 1st inn on the radio but from what I heard, he was leaving a bunch of pitches up. Probably got lucky there, too.

JD does seem to be putting a lot of quality PAs together. Struck out there but worked his way out an 0-2 count nicely.

To me his velocity has been up all game... in the first 2 innings he was sitting at 90-1 and just plain blowing by hitters his pitches although not lighting up the radar gun just looked fast. And last inning he was actually up a mph or 2 on the gun and sawed off a few bats. Location tonight has not been great hopefully theres no correlation between that and the increased velocity although he actually located his FB well last inning.

Cool... I'd imagine there is some correlation but command is one of his strengths so if he really does have some hidden velocity, he likely just needs time to add control.

Not a nice pitch by Wilty.

Boy is Upton a talent though.

So, another CG from Shields tonight. Price/Shields/Hellickson/Moore... yikes. They'll even have some relative talent in the 5th spot.

That's evidence of why it's important and necessary to build from within. No way the Rays are even competitive w/out doing things right. This applies to every team to varying degrees. We really wasted away a lot of years and lengthened our rebuilding process with the neglect. Could've still had ML success without destroying other parts of the system.
