Like I said, just tempering expectations when I see overreaction.

So who will hit a HR first - Norris or Lyles?

    I'm confused. I don't recognize this team...

Don't they know they are not "top notch" prospects?
Don't they know they are the Astros and are supposed to lose against Diamondbacks (like they always do)?
Don't they know they are not supposed to be hitting home runs?
Don't they know they are not supposed to shutting down decent offensive lineups?

2 nights in a row JD makes em pay for a SS making an error. No runs yet but more pitches for Marquis.

lol... now the runs come in.

I didn't see the ruling but I'm assuming that Altuve reached on an error.

Good god, Martinez makes beautiful music when he connects on the sweet spot.

He gives me hope simply because he actually has shown great plate discipline throughout the minors. That is the one thing that worries me about Altuve, the little guy needs to take some pitches eventually.

I know, but it's just gonna be more interesting to see all these young players develop. At some point we were going to have to rebuild and the future looks somewhat promising thus far. I could care less if we lose most of the rest of our games this season, I'm more concerned with the development of our young talent. Hopefully, we'll be relevant in about 2 years.

Totally agree with that, bcast. Didn't realize your point the first ime. Totally agree. Wish they started sooner.

If Sanchez had even above average speed/athleticism, I think he'd be able to stick around at this level, even on a good team, as a utility player at a minimum. Very fundamentally sound in the field but the lack of range/arm strength hurts him there. At the plate, I like his approach but he doesn't have the speed to beat out balls in play like the last one or to turn singles into doubles, etc...

Hopefully Lyles stays sharp. All it takes for a team like Zona is a few hits and the gates open up.

WOW...that was a nifty play right there. Good play by Martinez and an even better play by Jimmy.

I wonder if the DBacks are kicking themselves for going after Marquis instead of Wandy?

Probably not at all. Were they ever going to pick up that much salary and/or give up as much? What were the rumors there?

They were scouting Wandy throughout July and, rumor was, they had discussions with Wade before acquiring Marquis.

Wandy fits their stadium nicely and the West is up for grabs since the Giants can't score. They made comments that they have financial flexibility so Wandy's contract wasn't going to be a huge issue but I imagine it still was.

Zona has some real high-end pitching talent in the pipeline, right? I imagine they envision those low-cost talents filling out their rotation along with Kennedy and Hudson in a couple of years from now.
