WWW... going 5-1 on the road trip, then coming back to MMP to take care of business. I know MadMax is with me.
We got this. No Webb tomorrow and coming off a doubleheader yesterday. Roy O., Clemens, and Andy. No sweat.
2 out of 3 here is a must...especially going into next week's homestand...not to menton that the Dbacks are now tied with Cinn for 1st in the wc. With our 3 horses and no Webb, I like our chances
Anybody else know why we're playing the D-backs so much this year? Normally, its only 6 games against teams not in your division... but after this series, we will have played NINE against just the D-backs (6 at their place). We could use 3 extra games against a NL central opponent... but then again, it could backfire if we had lost those games to the Cardinals or Reds.
OT - but how is this possible? I thought the trading deadline was Monday... BALTIMORE - The Baltimore Orioles have traded Javy Lopez to the Boston Red Sox for cash and a player to be named later. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060804/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bba_red_sox_orioles_trade_1
You can make trades, just have to put players through waivers first. If Lopez can still catch (questionalble), could be a good deal for the Sox.
What physically happens when a player clears waivers? I thought other teams could claim players outright after they cleared.
After a player clears waivers, teams will have the ability to work out a trade (just like they did before the trade deadline)... I'm not sure how long a player must be on waivers to be declared "clear", but after that period is up, the only way another team can get him is by trade.
Yeah, blew out his knee, iirc. They really didn't have another option (Mirabelli's not an everyday catcher, but is Lopez?), we'll see if it works out.
Our best three pitchers coming up in this series, and Lance is back. We should go WWW. We really need to, to keep this "hot" streak alive. (yes I'm referring to 2 wins in 3 games as a hot streak......You gotta start somewhere.
