Think we can pull it off? My confidence level in our ball club to actually make the playoffs would dramatically increase if we somehow added another solid pitching arm into our starting rotation. However, that would seem like a pretty hard task to accomplish at this point...
Tejada would not make a good 3B right now. The Red Sox just got rid of Julio Lugo because they have a SS they wanted to play instead. Why exactly would they trade away a high level prospect for a 34 year old SS that is a FA after this season given that they just started giving playing time to their preferred SS?
Not to mention, Tejada isn't exactly Red Sox material with his plate approach. They typically look for disciplined hitters that can get on base at a high clip, right?
So, did they chicken out and NOT nail Soriano? I missed the game. I had to work till 9:30pm. BTW.... SUCK IT CUBS & CUBS FANS! ^^^^that with a 5 run lead.
Uprising, I missed it but a couple of posters said he imitated what Soriano did last night. I believe they were talking about the "you can't see me" thing.
ya, I figured it had to do with something like that. Valverde is always celebratory out there, but it did seem a little over the top for the scoreboard in this game. I missed it, but from the pic..... Valverde is one of those players you hate to play against, but like on the team. Reminds me of how I felt about Deke. I HATED the finger wag, till it was Houston's.
Which is the same approach the Astros should be taking in the future. Simply put, Lee, Tejada, and Pence are too aggressive at the plate. Hunter showed progress earlier but not anymore. I would much rather have a guy like Dunn who consistently draws walks.
There were runners on first and second. I think he was excited about finishing the game without allowing a run.
Mike Lowell is done as an effective 3B. David Ortiz is hitting .225 with little pop. Jed Lowrie is hitting .108 in limited AB's this season. Varitek is an out at catcher. They need a bat to go with Youk and Bay. Adam Laroche is not the answer.
I think Astros fans would **** an egg if they traded away one of the best hitters in baseball during the middle of a pennant race. That's just me, though.
So even though Lee, Tejada, and Pence all have higher batting averages, you would rather have the guy who is third in the league in strikeouts? Granted his OBP is better, but not by much. (.410 to .360, .358, and .355). I know this team is flawed, but I do not think someone like Adam Dunn would be the answer.
FSHouston One bright note out of last night's injury/illness report: No appendicitis for Wesley Wright only dehydration...he is OK Good news Id say
brianmctaggart Ed Wade says Bud Norris could start in place of Oswalt on Sunday Not looking good for Roy but not unexpected...
