I can't imagine the thought process it would take for a team to want Qualls or Wheeler unless their whole bullpen hits the DL at once. Lamb and Loretta could be traded, but you aren't going to get hot prospects for them. You'll get mediocre prospects or comparable players (ie- solid, but really shouldn't be starting everyday). Lidge has the most value, but at this point you are only going to get .50 cents on the dollar for him. After all the trade talk and his struggles, he won't bring what he once did. If his resurrection is legit, he has more value as our closer than he would bring in a trade.
You would be surprised what kind of prospects you can get for a rent-a-player. And remember that in today's game, average pitchers who have good stuff (even if they haven't performed) are drastically overvalued.
Can we say it again? That would have been an easy 3rd out for Everett. Loretta made a diving play to stop the ball from continuing, but that was all he got.
yep. watching over the past few days it's very apparent how much impact adam has. i don't care if he bats .000 i want adam at shortstop, he is just that good.
I agree that Adam should be the SS, but we have to surround him with people who can hit. Earlier this year it was the right move to bench Adam because this team needed every bat they could get in the lineup.
This is seeming to be an Astros trend. We get our butts handed to us for a few games. Then we come out and dominate, giving the fans a little false hope.
at this point, i'm just enjoying the victories they can get from here on out. you can't lose many series at this point and the astros have lost a series right out of the gate. is it really "over" over? of course not. if you want to be even a 1/10th realistic about everything, then yes, it is. the astros are just too inconsistent. i'm enjoying seeing pence swing the bat, seeing sampson develop and hopefully next year we can be back in contention via a few long term trades.
It's that play right now that makes Everett so valuable. Instead of the run scoring and still only 1 out, Everett makes the play standing up so the runner can't advance and there are now 2 outs. Maybe the hr is still hit, but I'd take 5-2 instead of 5-3.
I can't believe this.... 6 runs in one inning ? What in the **** is up with our pitching staff lately? JESUS.
nice. you know, i really hope purpura doesnt make any changes and keeps this team together. i think we're really beginning to come around! here's to you drayton timmy and phil!
You've GOT to finish off that bottom of the order if you're Rodriguez. You've got the biggest part of the Cub's lineup coming up and they're all hitting above .310 and you let the bottom of the order get two consecutive hits off you?
Well, if the Astros are going to kill our faith in them this season, they might as well do it in style. Another XBH! Just what the doctor ordered.
As far as I know, nothing's been said about keeping the entire team together. I highly doubt we stand pat at the trade deadline and do nothing to help the team for the future. I just hope we don't try and help the team for this year, lol.
Purp said trades would be geared towards building for the future,i.e. no rent-a-players. Even then, this season still hurts.
