So Brady's still in the suite, will he come out and get his cap and handshake when his name is called?
browns gotta love this really. Considered Quinn or Thomas at #3...took Thomas, and got their other choice down at 22?? amazing
It's cool- i agree with you, and I actually wasn't trying to make the point that the Texans should have taken him. I think with all the b****ing people do about the MW vs. VY or Bush situation, it gets assumed that if you stick up for a player, you are taking a shot at the Texans for not taking them. I was simply stating (initially) that Bush brings a lot more to the table than just rushing yards. As I stated earlier, I wanted the Texans to trade down and take Brick. However, I'm a Titans fan more than anything else, so I was glad that they were able to take VY. They truly needed a QB, and I wanted them to take VY over Leinart, even if I thought Leinart might be better right now at the time.
EXACTLY!!! Bush and Young both had good ROOKIE years but both still have questions to answer. Let's give these guys, including Mario, another couple of seasons before we give a final evaluation.
I know! A great draft so far for them. (Even if I was upset about the positioning) My favorite teams in the NFL 1) Houston Texans 1.6) Cleveland Browns
Wow. Joe Thomas AND Brady Quinn to the Browns? Nicely done. (Of course, it depends on the details of the trade.) EDIT: Steep price to pay, but oh well, they get the hometown guy.
I would have been doing backflips if Mario had been taken at no. 10 instead of at no. 1. But the facts are that he was taken at no. 1 ahead of the guys I mentioned and for better or worse, he will have to live up to those sky high expectations. Here we have taken in the first round in back to back years two guys who will have to develop. Big Whoop! Eventually, this may work out for them but for the forseeable future, the Texans will struggle to be mediocre. You actually believe that getting Matt Schaub & Ahman Green fixes what was wrong with this offense? Because if you do, I have a bridge in NYC I'd like to sell you. Schaub was a makeup move for botching the top of the 2006 draft and passing on the marquee QBs last year. He is a complete unknown quantity and getting him cost them a valuable 2nd round pick that could have been used on a good WR. Green is a so-so RB who's reaching the end of the line. Yeah, I'm sure that these moves have struck fear in the other teams in their division.
Right, but Okoye wasn't taken at No. 1, so a comparison to Mario Williams in terms of ability isn't exactly a bad thing. No, I don't. But you can't fix an entire offense or defense in an offseason. You try to do as best you can, and for the Texans, the DL and secondary were the worst parts of the team last season and they essentially haven't been touched in free agency. It shouldn't be a surprise, nor should it be a disappointment, that they went there in the first round. Are there still other holes to fill on both sides of the ball? Absolutely, but you only have one first round pick.
