    95mph, inside corner... that's nasty.

But yea... it had nothing to do with that... Palmeiro screwed up bad.

I'm shocked there was no squeeze with the runner on third and 1 out. Perfect opportunity, too.

Not when the guy is all over the place... and its not the easiest thing in the world to bunt a 96mph inside fastball.

The biggest out was actually Scott's strikeout... whereas Everett got a pretty unexpected RBI walk.

    That's hysterical. A 3-run rally is "aggravation".

I'm with Cat--would have loved a squeeze in that situation.

Eh, I wouldn't say that. Cordero was missing, but it wasn't like he was wild... he was fairly close to the zone. And I know batting an inside fastball is difficult, but with Palmeiro and Ausmus, you're talking about two guys with excellent bat control. So I'm a little surprised.

Also, with the bases loaded, its simply a forceout at home... the squeeze still could have techinically worked (even though you're trying to bunt a guy who's been spotty with his control, and still throws 96), but it's much tougher to defend when they have to tag out the runner at home.

Are you kidding? I much happier that we didn't get shut out and had a show to win at the end.

No, you're right. If we don't win, nobody on our team should get a hit. The opposing pitcher should pitch a perfect game w/27 K's becasue we suck so much. I'd much rather see our guys give up than fight and try to grind some runs out.

You could go either way... I also don't have a problem going for the win on the road. Maybe if it was a home game it would have been handled differently.

was referring to watching biggio and palmeiro get mowed down on 7 pitches while each of the other 7 batters that inning had good ab's.

i see what your doing though gonna pick at every single one of my posts and try to provoke an argument. sorry though, chief. your gonna have to find some other form of entertainment for yourself today. i'm done posting on this thread for the day! sorry kiddo!

Oooooohhhhh. But you *said* you'd rather lose 4-0.

Sorry, but you're just not that important to me. I responded to the drivel itself, regardless of the handle responsible for it. It *has* been years since I've been called "kiddo", though, so thanks!

Well we can't come back every time we have a chance. PH with Orlando and letting him swing away was the right move in that situation IMO, but it just didn't work out.

Good point... somehow that slipped my mind at the time. My mind was focused exclusively on those runners at second and third... almost forgot about Everett on first.

What's with Oswalt lately? His last three or four starts have been way subpar for him. I can't remember the last time he has pitched this poorly. It just doesn't seem like typical Oswalt. He has lost something?

    You're kidding, right? 3 or 4 starts???

First of all, he's only had 5 starts on the year:

    Game 1: 7.2 IP, 1ER - ND (BS Lidge)
    Game 2: 9IP, 1ER - W
    Game 3: 5IP, 6ER - W
    Game 4: 6.1IP, 1ER - W (pitched on short rest)
    Game 5: 7IP, 4ER - L

He has 3 STELLAR starts, 1 so-so (yesterday), and 1 bad where he still pitched long enough to get the win.

If this is the "poorest" stretch of his career (which it isn't, not by a long-shot), then they might as well go ahead and give him the Cy Young right now.

Guess I just have a hard time remembering when Roy gave up 6 and 4 earned runs within a 3 game stretch.
