If he was hitting 2nd Altuve would have scored, Alvarez would have been up with a guy in 2nd and no outs and we might have been on our way to ending this guy in inning 1.
My post was just to illustrate that judging by results instead of process is dumb. You can hit in 19 and pull a 2 but that doesn’t make it the right play just because it worked out (or didn’t). You (should) play the percentages before the game starts and let the chips fall where they may. Or don’t and give yourself a lesser chance of winning. Not sure why you’d do that but so be it. It’s a very very small difference in any one game, I guess, is the silver lining.
