people who would rather ask you for help and waste your time away from your own work because they won't use an internet search engine. then, you remind them that this information could easily be found on the internet. then, they go "oh...yea" and walk off like "i knew that". then, you see them again in 10 minutes with something else...they could easily find the answer to on the damn internet. lol
a-holes that do not clean up their messes in the kitchen or take their stuff out of the fridge...evar!
- People that send an email and rush to your desk asking "did you get my email?" They sometimes even beat their email...hehe JK. - People that don't apparently know their place/position/duties. Typically happens when people talk way too much, and acting like a manager of some sort trying to feel more important since they really aren't. Often times, wasting everyone's time just b/c they love to hear themselves talk. - People that aren't my superiors that ask me for updates. Being nice, I told you 15 minutes ago, when I make progress/finish, I'll let you know. Stop coming in and checking all the time. I'm a ****ing professional, you should act like one as well. - People that butcher the English language in a professional setting. Having an accent or broken English is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about plain bad English. It makes you sound stupid. Ironically, these are typically the people found in bullet 2 above that just love to talk. That is all for now. Plenty more where that came from.
Hehe - yea those are even better. I remember several years ago, there was an email that was sent out to all employees (and the company I work for has at least 25,000 employees) about something that really had no business going to "all employees". Well, before the email had a chance to be recalled, some jabroni hit "reply to all" saying that the email had nothing to do with him and he would "appreciate it if he didn't receive anymore of these emails." Then there were a couple of more that did the same thing. Finally, someone replied to one of these people and told them, "Hey just quit hitting the reply to all button. We don't want to hear your gripes and complaints". The only problem was that this person ALSO hit "reply to all", lol. Me and my boss wound up counting like 40 or so odd emails related to this original email in which they all had "reply to all" with roughly half of them complaining about the original email and the other half complaining about the people complaining, rofl.
I haven't read the whole thread, so forgive me if this has been mentioned.... My biggest pet peeve: Since I work in a refinery, I have to carry a pager. Cell phones are banned on the units, and its too loud to talk on them anyway. I freaking HATE those people who page me and when I call back, they either don't answer or I get a busy signal. I mean, I can be sitting at my desk, the pager goes off, I call back in ten freaking seconds, and I can't get a hold of them. I never call back a second time when someone does that to me.
lol we got some very angry members here on clutchfans. keep it up, i'm loving this thread. is it me or does it seem like everybody works at the same place?
The guy who talks about how drunk they got over the weekend with specific details... The fantasy football guy who gives you details and seeks advice daily on moves they should make...hmm should In start Tyler Thingpen or Romo after his injury? me: You mean yancey thingpen? People who try to snake some of my sales by saying "he doesnt work here anymore". I than get a call from the client and i have to give him some BS when I just want to say I work with some shady people....
OK, right as I type this, there is some chick down the hall yelling - not talking loud, but YELLING AT THE TOP OF HER LUNGS - about the time she ran over a squirrel.... Seriously, is your life so dull that you have to tell the whole floor about how you ran over a rodent a year ago?? SHUT. UP.
i have quite a few but they are mostly with the bosses son I work 5ft from... Cant do a damn thing about it.
Only slightly more annoying are the bipolar managers who can't decide which management style to follow... They decide to micromanage for 10 days, then practically drop off the face of the earth and don't manage anything for 10 weeks, only to change their management style yet again... Is it seriously too much to ask to pick a style and stick with it???
I don't like when managers play favorites. I have found that managers develop almost friendship relationships with certain workers under them they like at a personal level (even though they are basically only friendly at work). So, they end up spending more time with these people while ignoring other group members...unless they need something done. They become less objective IMO...and don't think other workers don't notice when a manager is giving preferential treatment. Some managers also tend to focus work to the individuals who have done similar work before (i.e. pigeon-holing)...versus giving them anything new and challenging that they haven't done before. After a while, they form their own opinion of those they manage as far as what they want that individual doing...not based on the capabilities of the individual or what the individual would like to be doing. They tend to get caught up in...so-and-so has done this before...so he can do it again since he's familiar. What tends to happen is each individual becomes an expert in a certain area...and that creates support problems if that person is out for whatever reason...because noone else is familiar. Not enough time is spent doing cross-training...just pushing out more stuff and meeting deadlines. It's a difficult job being a manager and keeping everyone happy...more difficult as the number of individuals on a team the manager is over grows. I would not want to be a manager in IT...especially if it was a team of 8 people or more. I don't really believe or like working in large groups...especially when work is more individual-oriented. The smaller you can break teams down...the better they are IMO. Sometimes, that is easier said than done though.
HAHAHA OK I'll give you that... Just don't come back on my yearly review and tell me I've got communication problems because you've been MIA for the past 10 weeks and randomly decided to be a micromanager for no effing reason. (True story, BTW)
I much prefer those guys to the guys who want to talk about computers and networks all the time. So yeah, give me the drunk stories and the fantasy football stories.. after all, that's a lot of what we get on this board..
I think I've posted this in every thead like this one, but I'll post it again: http://www.annoyingcoworker.com/ You can send an anonymous email to someone Anyway, I've been at a new job since July and can't really think of much to complain about except for my boss. He's a great guy, really down to earth and loves talking sports, but he does a few things that get on my nerves! 1) My office is right next to his, I can easily hear him through the wall. He comes in around 9:30 every morning on his cell phone, goes into his office, closes the door and talks about whatever (usually fantasy football) until about 11. The sad thing is, I can hear him loud and clear through the wall. 2) He won't let you say anything. If you're talking he'll butt in and say something at any time, if you try to continue speaking he just speaks louder. Same thing if you try to say something after he completes a sentence, you think he's done but he's not....you're not going to get a word in! 3) He'll be talking and just let out a belch, not too loud, but still obvious, and thinks nothing of it. 4) Last and worst of all...I'll be standing in his office talking to him and he just starts rubbing himself! He even started doing in yesterday when we were meeting with the CFO. Pugs
