Like all trends, their meaning depends on duration. Its unfortunate that you cant just look at a guy for a few weeks and make a strict determination as to his potential or worth. We are just far enough into the season to see some guys trending up and others down. It might be July before we are able to assign meaning to the trends we are seeing right now. In some ways, it easier for a club in a race. A guy slumps for a while, you put in another. In our case we, are looking far beyond this season as to imagination how guys fit. A team in a race has a horizon of about September. Our horizon is 2014-15.

Yeah, that's not gonna get it done. I think Ruggiano might get the first shot over Shuck and Martinez. Right-handed bat and can play all 3 outfield positions. Unfortunately, J.D. isn't showing any signs of getting out of his slump anytime soon, so he might be on the road with OKC by the weekend.
