Seriously? Kent State, Ghandi, MLK and thinking that tanks and attack helicopters being used are in the realm of possibility?

I sympathize with the OWS movement and as I said I think there is a Constitutional argument but what is happening now isn't comparable to those incidences. Police have behaved heavy handed but they I have yet to hear about attack dogs or live ammunition being used.

This is as hyperbolic as other guys crying about OWS like its made of Mao, Lenin, and Stalin reborn.

That actually is a compelling argument in regard to Zucotti Park and if the ruling is on that basis that it is private not public property I can agree with that. That said the ruling doesn't appear on that basis.

That reasoning though does not apply to other Occupy protests where they are on public property. I personally would like to see a ruling on the basis that occupation isn't speech appealed.

Yes I am such a fence sitter that I donated food and money to the Occupy Minnesota protest and actually am arguing they have a right to occupy.

I've brought this up before but this is why there is so little reasoned discourse here.

Then why do you feel the need to justify critics of OWS?

As Matt Yglesias at Thinkprogress.com said, the busts may be the best thing that happened to OWS, so that it can go out in a blaze of glory rather than die of old age.

Because I like an informed and reasoned discussion.

Honestly I find it sad that I even have to explain this.

That would be pretty disappointing if it ended this way. I said a few pages back that this movement should change tactics and that its message of economic justice was getting sidetracked about occupation.

Occupation is important for symbolic value but if the movement can't grow beyond that its doomed.

    I'll talk to you.

It's going to be a long culture clash, this is just the start of it. And it will be won in the courts and ballot boxes. It's the internet versus the conventional media, a possible change in information paradigm, that's what's so interesting.

But the new Pamphleteers will take the moral high ground, just like the American Revolutionaries did against the Royalist. It's the the capacity the corporate feudalists have for disinformation that makes it tough match up. Every Clean Coal, Citizens United, American Crossroads, Americans For Tax Reform campaign will be indistinguishable from truth to the average person.

OWS will need to fire up the fervor of the town's people burning Frankenstein for every statement they make and they will fatigue, where the paid advocates will happily just charge more billable hours.

    game on MF'ers!

Yeah so? Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public. The funny thing is they haven't given any personal reasons why they support the corporate Borg. Even free enterprise people should be on board for a level playing field for Mom and Pop and we know they don't get to play the high finance, tax dodge, socialized risk, slave wage manufacturing game.

(except my buddy did, his small business now is fully manufactured overseas)

Keep trying to focus on the red herring of tanks and attack helicopters if you like.Raise Mao, Lenin, Stalin etc. to down play the importance.

Keep nitpicking ocd fashion on the foibles of OWS and anything progressive if you like while alledging your support.

    This is an important issue.

Keep up with the red herring of attack helicopters, and tanks. Now the new one is Mao, Stalin.

Why do you feel the need ocd style to nitpick about occupy Wall Street any sort of progressive movement while at times alledging support? One thing for sure with your type of support we would not have the present child labor laws, civil rights laws etc. You would be nitpicking and talking about the need for midl mannered discourse. Wierd.

On Thursday, these Occupy people are occupying CSU East Bay, which is in Hayward, CA. At the same time, teachers are going on a strike and having picketing lines to block both entrances into the school, and also in the same hours, Dr. Cornel West is going to be speaking at our campus, most likely joining the protests.

It's going to be hell. Most classes have been canceled on Thursday. I work on campus, and I'm going to be pissed if I can't get onto campus on Thursday due to all this stuff. I just want to go to work and get paid.

You know what's also interesting? The first thing the police took and destroyed this morning was the donated 5,000 book free library. Yes, they had a library in the park.

There's also news coming out that mayors have been coordinating the shutdowns. Using our police force to suppress non violent dissent.
