Sam... We have disagreed on a good many things. We agree on this entirely. In the future we will disagree again, but your right to disagree with others in this country is key. That is where I take issue with basso.
again, i'm not talking about the arguement over whether invading iraq was the right thing to do or not. it's a subject i'm passionate about, but not terrifically interested in discussing further, since there's very little hope of changing anyone's mind. i'm interested in winning. most of the liberal posters here are not. in fact, they have made plain they'd much rather concoct evermor fanciful ways of "proving" bush lied, than actually support efforts to win in iraq. efforts, btw, that would in the end get our troops home sooner, and more safely. btw, i'm not a republican, and i've long maintained i'm far more liberal, in the true sense of the word, than most other posters here. i'm supporter of this war. and rather it was the original rationale for invading iraq or not, i fully support the fantastically liberal idea of bring democracy to the heart of the middle east. "liberal" posters here do not have the courage of their convictions. they're just rapid partisans (witness the fratricidal Dem primary season). my earlier point, and post, stands.
Well holy crap...somebody call the paramedics, because bigtexxx and T_J may have just fainted when they learned that basso is a liberal.
basso, commited to winning wars with american lives on an basketball message board. that's highly commendable
Nothing says courage like anonymously expressing your opinion and moral superiority on a basketball message board. Keep at it man, this stuff is honestly pure comedy gold.
I figured out why he's here. The makers of Excedrin put him here...because I have one doozy of a headache now.
You are a funny guy. First you try to insinuate that Refman is really a Democrat and then you are a purist more than anybody else. Sheer awesomeness, I say. Are you suggesting that you are of an 18th century liberal mindset of individual liberty, equality, free markets and small, transparent government? If so you of course run into a number of problems. 1. That doesn't exist anymore because, well, everything changed in the 19th (not to mention 20th and 21st) century. You could (wrongly) pretend that that is modern libertarianism but you never have done so. 2. If you really ascribed to those beliefs you would not support either party in our two party system. 3. Economically, the classical liberal view does not work because "free markets" changed with heavy industrialization and late capitalism. 4. There is no "true" sense of the word as you imply. Liberalism - as with conservatism, and any other "ism" - is an organic, evolving term of categorization that has shifted repeatedly over time. So, your purity is something that doesn't exist I guess.
Pretty funny, coming from you, basso. So why aren't you fighting in Iraq? Too old? Then why aren't you working in Iraq? You feel so deeply about it, after all. As for your post "standing," it's standing neck deep in a sewer of your own making. I hope you are enjoying the smell. Impeach Bush. Sentence Him to Live with basso.
No we have and you ignored it. We pointed out that Al-qaeda wants us to stay in IRaq. They do, and you ignore it. I've posted how staying in Iraq generates more morale and cause for those who would enlist in causes against the U.S. I've pointed my belief that Iraq will be more stable with less American presence because we are one of the greatest causes of instability there. you ignore it. We've posted how resources spent in Iraq could be better used to fight terrorism, and strengthen our nation. You ignore it. But first and foremost we've talked about upholding America's constitution, and you've excused Bush's violations of it. Yet you accuse us of loving our nation less and not wanting to win. Sorry, but you refusing to acknowledge the evidence that liberals have put forward is not the same as it not existing.
Also basso as far as wanting to win in IRaq, it is important that we are given a clear idea of what winning means. The definition of winning has changed so much since the beginning of the campaign.
It's really quite simply ya'll. Ignore the sorry sack of **** that is basso. Ignore him. My last reply to him was truly my last correspondence. He is not worth my time, nor worth an ounce of respect.
basso is the only one around here claiming people who disagree want the U.S. to lose, or they don't love America more than their party.
Well, I will admit it, I am a Rocket's fan first and foremost. I can't wait for Shane Battier to run for president. Hopefully, he will be able to launch a worldwide "rocket" attack even basso could love.
QUESTION: Are you of the beleif that all countries should be made in to democracies .. . . whether they want it or not? [Not saying that is what you said. . but asking the question] Rocket River
