    basso,

Go f*** yourself. I am an American and a Texan before any party affiliation. Just because many of us don't share your beliefs does not make us any less patriotic or American than you and your like.

The polls that I have seen seem to bear out that Obama does not do particularly well, especially with the elderly in the Jewish community.

What is your purpose with this basso?

If it is just to insinuate that people who disagree with you politically love this country less than you do, then you really need to stop. Political disagreement, and the right to do so openly, is one of the cornerstones of this country. I request that you cease your efforts to squelch that.

If it's just a joke, please explain the punch line, because it isn't very funny.

you seem to have taken this personally- interesting.

in any case, it goes back to the question i've posed a couple of times: why shouldn’t cc.net denizens infer that winning the war may be less important to Democrats than scoring political points?

you (Democrats) have given no evidence that you're interested in anything other than punishing bush. seems pretty clear to me how you (Democrats) order your priorities.

Probably because, as a conservative, he feels embarrassed to have someone like you parading around making statements like that.

I take it personally because when we attempt to squelch dissent, we give up part of who we are as Americans. Further, we become what the lunatic fringe of the left claim that we are as conservatives.

There is an ocean of difference between disagreeing with our involvement in Iraq and hoping that we lose and that lives are lost. In fact, one of the largest complaints the left has about the war is the number of American lives being lost. I am a conservative, and even I am not certain of what "winning" even means at this point. What is the objective? Saddam has been dead for a long time now. It is time to get Iraq on its own feet.

I voted for Bush for governor and twice for President. I am voting for McCain. I haven't voted for a Democrat...roughly ever. The bottom line is that Bush has flubbed a lot of things up. For that, he deserves to catch some heat.

Pretty ballsy statement from a guy on a basketball message board who has never met any of the people you seek to villify. Convenient.

i've met numerous folks from cc.net, including several from the d&d. and disagreement with the war is not exactly what i'm talking about. it's a willful denigration of all american efforts in iraq, and the continued efforts to pin some sort of "liar" tag on Bush.

they're the ones with ****ed up priorities, not me.

basso I could start posting about the number of principles and values (most notably, truth) your posts show you are ready to discard in order to support THE GREAT CAUSE OF SUPPORTING THE GOP ON A BASKETBALL MESSAGE BOARD - the only thing is that I have to be at work in 14 hours. Suffice it to say it is a very long list indeed.

Good for you. Am I to assume that you met all of those that you disagree with and tell them in person that they don't care about America because they don't agree with you?

Awww...come on. Sure it is. When things go as badly as they have over there, for as long as they have, and when the prosecution of the war has been as bad as it has been...it is easy to become angry as many "liberals" have when they do not believe we should have been there in the first place.

    See above.

When the public rationale for going to Iraq changed frequently in the first 2 years of the war...it is easy to see where some people may believe that he has been less than honest.

I tend to believe that nobody here has messed up priorities. Their opinion on what is best for our country is very different from yours. There is no crime in that.

Actually no, we are the ones with common sense and understand that willful blindness is a form of lying (the criminal law also recognizes this), and that the ability to comprehend an unpleasant reality on a basketball message board does not render one into a threat to national security.

These are simple concepts - I understand you have an incredible overarching need to demonstrate your moral superiority on a basketball BBS, and you will demonstrate this by any means necessary (including but not limited to absolute plagiarism). Just don't expect people to agree with it, so stop your whining.
