awesome that so many of you mentioned "70%." almost like there were a memo or something...

...but you're missing the point. the question is not whether Obama has madr oratorical skillz- he clearly does, and outclasses not only W, but arguably any other politician of this era, including Slick Willy. but slick willy could think on his feet- and there was clearly a great intellect at work (the tragedy of the clinton presidency is how completely he squandered those gifts.).

TJ got it right above- the question is is there anything behind Obama's oratory (i've posted on this before), or is it all just "a dog walking on it's hind quarters."

most of you don't seem to care...

On the subject of Bush's wonderous legacy of craptacular/unamerican/illegal policies, the telecom industry is one step closer to getting retroactive immunity for helping Bush illegally spy on american citizens.

For the record - the vote tally indicates that democrats are giant traitorous douchebags too.

we understand the point, its still ironic, because its not that W is an average speaker, he's poor. And I don't know any other president you could say that who's voice we have on recording. And I think his lack of speaking ability is more of a sign of his lack of ability to handle the job, more than you may question obama's ability as a sign he is able

    spare us the drama, please

Judging by the logic of resident ignorami mcmark and pgabs, if one appears in a photo with another human, then therefore, they share policy positions on issues. I recently saw Obama photographed with Ludacris, yes, the rapper. So below please find the shared Obama/Luda platform on diplomatic relations:

    OH NO! The fight's out
I'ma 'bout to punch yo...lights out
Get the F*** back, guard ya grill
There's somethin' wrong, we can't stay still
I've been drankin' and bustin' two
and I been thankin' of bustin' you
    Upside ya motherf***in' forehead
And if your friends jump in, "Ohhh gurrlll", they'll be mo' dead
    Causin' confusion, Disturbin Tha Peace
It's not an illusion, we runnin the streets
So bye-bye to all you groupies and golddiggers
Is there a bumper on your ass? NO NIG**!
I'm doin' a hundred on the highway
So if you do the speed limit, get the F*** outta my way
I'm D.U.I., hardly ever caught sober
and you about to get ran the F*** over

The Obama/Luda platform on women's rights is quite lengthy.

Poor Jorge, so full of rage

Your standard barer not only is tied to the administration in regards to the war, but is the greatest proponent of its failed policies!

    ANOTHER 100 YEARS!!!

    BOMB, BOMB, BOMB IRAN!!!

Not only that, McCain (after voting against them) has now swallowed the “make the tax cuts permanent” kool aid. Now why would that be?

    Because McCain needs the base.

Obama will wipe the floor with McCain in the debates!

I think this article is petty.

You don't graduate from Harvard law school (unless you are Bush jr.) or being president of Harvard Law Review without being brilliant.

I do think Senator Obama has less substance at this point in his career. But it has more to do with his inexperience.

ridiculous- why should telcoms be subject to frivious lawsuits when they were ensured by the government the requests were legal?

and further, why are the liberals so intent on weakening our ability to fight terrorists?

When we start to wipe our asses with the constitution, the terrorists win. Why are Republicans aiding and abetting the terrorists? Maybe its time to get the rope?

My point is that the article you posted provides no evidence or support to suggest there isn't anything behind Obama's oratory.

The author suggests that when speaking without a teleprompter, he he attacks Bush out of the blue. This means that 1) Aha!! THIS is the REAL Obama! and 2) the REAL Obama just does liberal hate mongering.

As myself and others have already pointed out, this is wrong on every count. He has been harshly critical of Bush policies since the beginning of the campaign and long before. Obama has been consistent.

NEWSFLASH: Obama is a democrat running with liberal policies on his platform.

Whereas Hillary runs as 'candidate of change' because her liberal policies will be different from the conservative ones of her predecessor, Obama is the candidate of change because he will employ a new and different style of governance- independent of his policies.

If you want to have a discussion about Obama being a one trick pony, please provide us with something more than this article. I'd say a stronger angle of attack would be discussing his lack of experience, and suggesting that we haven't seen enough of him in public office to be sure of his style of leadership. Or you could simply state that you don't think he is who he says he is. But his speech at Virginia hasn't shown us that.

Liberals aren't intent on weakening our ability to fight terror.

Liberals are smart enough to know that illegal activities by the govt. don't help us in fighting terror.

A well thought out point like that really requires a counterpoint like this:

He's done a lot as Senator.

However, I'll just summarize some of what I've already told you.

His bills, most of which, were co-sponsored with Republicans have done plenty.

They've increased border security, they've made financing of campaigns more transparents, they've helped with immigration reform, they've made it harder for terrorists to get weapons such as missle launchers etc.

In addition we have what could be most important and that is his style of leadership. That seems to be the one trick you are saying he has. I've listed the other.

If you want to read about them specifically then I've posted them in various threads all over the bbs.

    Counterpoint?

Obama's certainly no George Bush when it comes to speechifying and presidentializing...
