this is pretty cool http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/index.cfm "The New York Public Library this week launched an online gallery containing over 275,000 images from its collection, offering free downloads of images such as 16th century maps, Depression-era photography and rare illustrated books by writers like William Blake. The library said it will update the archive monthly and plans to eventually offer 500,000 items. "
That's awesome. The City of Houston has a photo archive with over 3 million photos in the collection. Unfortunately, it isn't online, but it is very well-kept in the annex right across from the main library downtown. You can even get reproductions of AMAZING Houston photos from 5x7 all the way up to poster size for extremely reasonable prices (I think 8x10's are like $12).
