I've said this before but I have to again: Watch the Bulls/Magic so you can see future mega-star Derrick Rose in just his 4th NBA game. If you want to observe greatness in the making from the very start, please tune in. Even though the Bulls are getting clobbered, it's enjoyable watching Rose make plays and figure out what he can do (which is quite a bit). He has the spectacular athleticism, intelligence, floor vision demeanor and "it" factor already. Also, my obligatory mention that Tyrus Thomas is a bust.
Is anyone trying to watch tonight through NBA Broadband? I get the load screen, it reaches 98%, then just hangs there. I've tried it on different browsers on two computers and it's doing the same thing every time.
Yea, I was watching Tyrus Thomas chuck up bad shot after bad shot and turning the ball over. Nocioni has heart. Hinrich is softer than Charmin. The Bulls' offense consists mostly of one-on-one plays. Deng is struggling to get going because of this.
You guys do realize there is also a free nba league pass preview on TV, not just broadband? At least that's the case with Comcast.
9 of 12 Sixers shot 50% or better from the field tonight in a slaughtering of the Kings. As a team, they shot 59.2%. The Kings have no concept of defense and no leadership. They miss Ron Artest.
Meh, Tyrus had his worst game of the season today..... What is he? 21,22? Big men hit stride at 25 so he still has time. He has shown that he can rebound and blocks shots. His jumper is flat out nice, but he might not be big enough to play on the block.....
Ben Gordon still hasn't learned to make good decisions with the game on the line. Bulls lose. Oh well. Brooksball, Reggie Theus is thought to be one of the most likely coaches to be fired early this season. He's just not an NBA-type of coach. Plus, your comments on their roster are dead-on. No hope this year in Sactown.
The way I see it, Tyrus Thomas roughly equals Stromile Swift. Similar skill sets, similar basketball IQs, similar work ethic and discipline. Both disappointments.
Whoa, you must have missed the Celtics game where TT was 2/17 and was laughing at himself. His jumper was really "flat out nice" (or just flat). Or the Grizzlies the next day where he went 0/5. Lazy Tyrus will be a career 9/5, 10/5 player. He just doesn't have the mentality to play well over an extended period of time like 82 games. He brings very few intangibles other than a few highlight plays and the notion he has a lot of potential (which he doesn't). BTW, TT isn't a "big man" by any stretch (215 lbs). Unfortunately for him, he has the limited skillset of a big man.
I don't know too much about Theus but he has to be at least partially responsible for their total lack of defense. The way they look right now, they may end up with a worse record than OKC and the Griz.
What a disappointment these Bulls are. I think hiring the former spur, and inexperienced rookie Del Negro was a terrible move. Also, not sorting out the glut of guards was inexcusable. To be a team as bad as they are and to have Hinrich and Gordon coming off the bench just makes no sense. To think they could have had D'Antoni and could be a respectable team.
Is Marcus Williams for Golden St. hurt? They gave up a 1st rounder for him and he isn't even playing? Anybody know whats going on?
A_3PO You still think Chris Bosh isn't a superstar? I know we had this discussion last year and you said you didn't see it in him? I know it's early but if you've seen him play lately he's been playing at an elite level. Don't know about you ability to see greatness in players
Apparently, Don Nelson didn't think he was getting the system. Now, there is a reasonable and attainable option for the Rockets. Williams is 6'3 and a very good passer. His shot is suspect but no worse than Rafer's. He is young with plenty of time to revive his game. If we could give up Luther head and a pick to get him, I think that would be a smart move. He can push Alston and Brooks for minutes.
I like him too but he seems like a serious bonehead. First the laptop thing at UConn, then getting in the doghouse with Nellie, one of the more liberal coaches in the league, right when the starting PG position is available. I mean really, its like the manager gets fired, and instead of stepping up you let the guy who makes the coffee take your spot. Do you want him to take minutes from Aaron?
Yea, I don't know enough about him to be honest. I've heard he has some issues. I'm just growing frustrated with our overall PG situation. Brooks is exciting but I'm not sold on him yet. He needs to show he can protect the ball and use his ridiculous speed selectively. If he learns to do those things, he should be a nice backup. I was thinking Williams could maybe take over for Alston but the stuff I read says he is a poor defender. And you're right, with Monta out for months, if he can't get time over an undrafted rook like DeMarcus Nelson, something ain't right.
Obviously something has happened to Bosh. I don't know if it's the confidence he got from the Olympic experience, having a bruiser on his team like JO or what. I doubt if he can keep up this pace, but as long as he continues stepping up during games when the Raptors need it the most (which is what superstars do), he will have arrived. He also needs to keep this edge/attitude on the floor that I noticed. I betcha that's from having JO out there with him. In fact, I'll make a comparison: The Raptors having a secure, unselfish, happy JO who is only worried about winning and not his stats is like the Rockets picking up Artest. He's the kind of guy that can turn a pillowsoft team (my longtime description of the Raptors) into a thornbush that other teams don't want to play. But I wonder how long JO will last before he goes down to injury. brooksball, the fact Marcus Williams is 3rd string on the Warriors right now says enough for me. He isn't ready to be a rotation player in the NBA, especially on a contender.
Ben Wallace has shut down Dirk tonight and the Cavs are killing the Mavs on the boards. Maybe Joey Dorsey will one day be an answer for Dirk. I'm just dreaming. If the Rockets could find a big with enough speed and length to guard Dirk, we would dominate them. Chuck is solid but Dirk can shoot over him pretty easily.
Wow!! 2 and a half minutes left in the game, mavs down by 20 and the lower seats looks as empty as a grizzlie game. I didn't realise traffic was that bad in dallas
