Sorry if this doesn't deserve its own thread, but I figured it might.

I would love to see Novak play, but why the hell sit chuck hayes when we have had so much success as of late with him in the lineup?!

My guess is that Phoenix didn't game plan for Novak, so JVG is trying to exploit that. Plus, Chuck is always just a substitution away if we need him.

This game today is all about offense. I wanna see Novak drop at least 12 points.

Gameplan for a slow, lumbering PF that can't guard his position very well? It would be great if he blows up shooting today, but I dont see this as a big problem for the suns.

Because its the suns, rebounding and defense isn't as large a priority with them. You have to admit that Chuck's a negative on offense outside of cuts to the basket and put-backs. Novak stretches the defense and gives Yao more room to operate.

Stoudamire has no shot to guard Yao and stretching the defense with Novak should help limit double teams.

OMG! I guess JVG is gonna have a shooting game against the Suns. I do think that offense would be a big problem against the Suns. You have to keep up the scoring pace to stay in the game playing the Suns.

On the other hand, who's hurt? JHo won't count.

so we are countering the Suns' high scoring ways by putting our worst defending PF in the game?

Putting Novak in, will pull Marion away from the basket. Allowing Yao to get the rebound over Amare. We all know Amare can't board. Chuck Hayes would be less effective in getting his boards against sombody tall and athletic like Marion. This is our best chance of winning.

Have you guys ever seen how the Suns play defense on us? They basically triple Yao before he gets the ball leaving the 4 wide open every single possession. Novak should hit ATLEAST 4 3 pointers tonight.

    Novak as a starter

I wanted Novak in but not like this.....throwing the kid straight into the deep end of the pool to see if he can swim.

Meaning Phoenix has been off for 4 days and haven't had anything to worry about (Chuck Hayes isn't a scoring threat) when doubling from the PF spot. Hopefully they'll be stuck in their original game plan so much that they'll end up forgetting to guard Novak on the perimeter. It has nothing to do with Novak's defense (or lack thereof).

    Think, my friend. Think!

I have a guess why JVG's doing this:

He doesn't want to play Dikembe against Phoenix. I wouldn't either. And since Chuck is the only guy on our team besides Yao & Deke who can even masquerade as a center, JVG is taking him off the bench.

no, and no, u cannot out score suns on 3-points, and if we get ourself into a 3-points contest with PHX, thats dead in water for us.
we need rebounds , suns will miss shots, and we shouldnt give them any 2nd chance, chuck hayes does that well.
