How in the hell is Notre Dame even being considered for a BCS bowl??? This really, really pisses me off. Right now they are 10-2 and the 2 good teams that they played absolutely destroyed them. So again why are they even being considered for a BCS game? I would put Auburn, Oklahoma, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Wake Forest ahead of them in the BCS. I would even put 3 loss teams like Texas and California ahead of them. Could somebody please explain to me why this team is worthy?
considering the rule is only two teams from a conference, and LSU is already going to a bcs bowl, and michigan is going to a bcs bowl, I don't see the problem.
They aren't national title contender worthy, but there's no reason they shouldn't be in the BCS mix. They did play and beat likely ACC champion Georgia Tech. Sure, they got blown out twice - but that wasn't to just "good" teams, that was to the #2 and #3 teams in the country. How does Texas get ahead of them? Notre Dame didn't lose to the likes of K-State. There's no way on earth Texas should be in the mix before Notre Dame. There are 4 at-large spots this year. The ACC and B12 are terrible this year and really don't deserve two bids. The Big East doesn't deserve two. The Pac-10's 2nd best team isn't that good. The SEC probably deserves and gets two (some combo of Ark, LSU, and Florida). Boise State gets one. Michigan gets one. Who really deserves the 4th? You could argue for some other teams, but Notre Dame would be in that mix and at the same level.
God says so. no, not Vince Young, the other one. Oklahoma will be in the BCS game if they win today vs Nebraska. Michigan should be in a BCS game. Boise State should be in one. Just because it's "been like that forever" doesn't mean its right.
What does that have to do with anything? None of that is mutually exclusive. There are 10 spots this year. 6 conference winners, and 4 wildcards. Boise State, Michigan, and likely an SEC team will get 3 wildcards. Who do you think clearly deserves the 4th over a Notre Dame?
SOmeone already said it. People pay to see them play. That's why they have their own TV deal with NBC. They travel well, people follow them so that means a sold out game in the stands. They make more money with them in a bowl game and the ratings will be higher. With Notre Dame, it's not the quality of the team. It's the money they bring.
All I've got to say is ND hasn't even proved they deserve to be ranked in the top 20. How all the pundits even kept mentioning them as contenders late in the season is ridiculous. Beating the likes of Army and Navy and then getting blown out by 2 ranked teams? Congratulations.
At least this year's ND team is better than the 6-4-1 team that went to the Fiesta bowl awhile back. ND has not won a bowl game since 1993.
if you want to argue that notre dame doesn't deserve their ranking, that's a very fair argument. They also have an unfair advantage not playing in conference so they can never really be eliminated by the way some other teams can. but with their ranking, they have a legitimate argument to be in, especially with the two team per conference rule.
ND and Marsha Brady are so overated...I agree, why are they even considered...I also think USC shouldn't be playing OSU, if they win today...That is a travesty... On a side note, Kam really really likes that chick from High School Musical...I don't think she's in High School or anything, but she's cute and underage though...Vanessa something or other...
Isn't there some rule that if ND is ranked at a certain level, then they are guaranteed an At-Large birth? I think I remember hearing that, and that would basically guarantee them a BCS bowl.
FYI. Notre Dame hasn't won a bowl game since 1993. They always get placed into bowls where they don't belong, so they end up getting whipped regularly.
They soundly beat all the teams on their schedule, and were soundly beaten by two of the top teams in the country. What's the problem here? ND would have destroyed K State.
