May have missed it but I haven't head much about Cato. Did he show up in shape?. Is he playing hard?. Heard a comment yesterday on 610 about how Cato was quoted as "being all about winning". Any reason to think he can back that up this year?.
A few reasons: He won't play as much; Steve Francis, Cat, EG, Rice, MT, KT, Yao Ming, Boki, Mooch, Oscar, Motion Offense, Full Training Camp for most, more experience, more depth... to name a few
$1 million per year, per foul per game. That's what Mr. Cato is all about. Otherwise, Yao Ming won't get to play more than 15 or 20 minutes against the Lakers.
I haven't really heard anything from Clutch, be he said an article will be written about him today. I was kind of curious as well.
From what I hear the coaches have been working with him on his offensive game...I thought he made great strides last year in the effort department...there were stretches where he was dominating the offensive boards.... I also heard he wasn't happy with the selection of Yao Ming initially...but after thinking about it, he realized if Yao is someone who can help us, it's a good move... I think there is a place on this team for Cato...he could be a servicable (yet expensive) backup... he still needs a little work on emotional management during game time...he needs to think of basketball as a game between 8 vs 5. The refs are on the other side...think of it as a challenge... I would say the same thing about Steve....just think of the refs adding to the challenge...zip it! and play
I look for Eddie and/or Mo to work into the High Post often when match ups permit, further cutting into Cato's PT. I also expect Cato to be primo trade bait after Yao has his feet and game grounded...
