I know i shouldnt care... but its dumb how they can rank the suns above us 13 Phoenix (5) 1-4 His minutes stayed the same, but when Amare got them -- and what he did with them -- was a step in the right direction. He pumped in 16 points in 15 minutes vs. the Spurs. 14 Indiana (18) 3-2 An ankle injury kept Jermaine O'Neal out of Wednesday's game at Washington. The Pacers have two -- vs. Magic, at Bulls -- this weekend before a three-day layoff. 15 Houston (12) 3-2 You knew it was only a matter of time until McGrady found his shot and looked like the T-Mac of old. http://www.nba.com/powerrankings/index.html
I don't get worked up over all of this..... The Suns and the Mavs have taken major steps backwards this year, and the national press has not acknowledged it yet. Chemistry is the most underated thing in sports, and the Mavs and Suns chemistry is broken right now. DD
That has to be the worst power ranking ever in the history of power rankings. Get this - #8 - Atlanta, #9 - Portland, #10 - Philadelphia. Excuse me while I die of laughter.
I take these early season ranking with a grain of salt. So don't get too worked up over it. The real season begins after the All-star break, that is when you begin to see clearly the separation between great , good and mediocre team.
why give us credit...we've had 2 really good games and 3 really average games, just happen to have a worse game by the grizz. We still don't have an identity yet and haven't shown any consistency yet. It will happen
we've beaten bucks, mavs, and grizzlies and lost to jazz and hornets. If you think about that theres no real good way to measure how much better we are compared to the teams that they ranked above us. We didn't blow out the bucks or the grizzlies and lost by 10 to the jazz and 6 to the hornets. So i think they have us at somewhat a fair place, but i agree that phoenix is too high.
Didnt Utah have a great start 2 or something years ago and then slowed down greatly after 10 games? I think they eventually missed the playofs after AK went down too These early rankings are so pointless
There are a lot of confusing things about those rankings. First, there should be no 2-2 or 3-2 teams ranked ahead of the Rockets. The Rockets 2 losses are to the #1 and #3 teams on that list. The Cavs at #7 is a joke. You can't lose to the Hawks and Bobcats and be considered anywhere close to a contender - and I am on the Cavs bandwagon. The Lakers at #5 are a joke, especially coming off losing 2 of 3, with the two losses to the Sonics and Trailblazer, all with Kobe in the lineup. I'd put NJ in the # 5 spot. The Suns at number #13, while the Mavs are number #29 is a joke. They play eac other tonight. If the Mavs win, their 1-4 would be better than the Suns 1-5. A little early in the season to be ranking the Hawks and Trailblazers so high, me thinks. These teams need to be higher: Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington, Indiana, and Houston
It's all good, it's better to prove em wrong. We know we got it, we gotta show em what we got (ala Jay-Z).
I agree on Philly not being that high, but I think everyone should watch out for a healthy Atlanta and Portland (not saying they are 8 and 9) but I think they will both make playoffs . Atl - Playing very well right now and JJ is playing like not just an allstar but a superstar/mvp like player. His team is playing some of best D in league if you watch them and they are playing with a passion and chemistry, unlike last year. Portland - They can make playoffs IF Randolph decides that he wants to keep trying like he is now because this guy is one of best players in league if he actually tries (which is not often), AND if Roy stays healthy. Roy is going to be AMAZING this year, his numbers are good already, I think by end of the year they will be GREAT for a rookie. Rockets at #15 is fair until they prove that they can consistently play like contenders. (Beating an inconsistant Bucks, Memphis (umm yea..) and Dallas (who right now aren't exactly good)) is not a great accomplishment. Wait till they beat the Spurs, Pistons, Miamis (hopefully ). I personally think that Rockets are a top 5 talent team, BUT they really need Novak and Wells to start playing and JVG needs to get them out of his doghouse or wherever they are because both could be of great contribution.
San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Utah, Sacramento, Denver, Minnesota. You don't really believe Portland has a shot at the playoffs, do you?
Dallas may not make it, prob will though. I dont think Denver or Minnesota or Sacramento will make it. I think Portland can sneak in their at 8 and take out Dallas or Phoenix. (Yea I actually do believe that one of them could miss playoffs because neither team is playing good AT ALL, their moves in off season (esp. Dallas's) were more harm than good.)
power rankings mean absolutely nothing, i mean they have dallas no. 29!!!! we will get our respect if we win, we dont need to count on writers to tell us were good
